Anyone thinking Inside Passage / SE Alaska summer 2025?

Many folks use the Friday Harbor C-Brats get together as a starting point to head further north for the Summer in a group. As time draws near, plans just seem to come together for further planning. In early January, 2025, look for a new post for the 2025 Friday Harbor gathering event.

What is the most efficient cruising speed?

SurfDory, looked at your FB link numbers for fuel economy. Do you have a number for fuel economy at 1500 rpm? I would think that your fuel economy mpg would be quite a bit higher at an even slower speed. Being able to slowboat and save fuel is a great benefit of owning a C-Dory!

Anyone thinking Inside Passage / SE Alaska summer 2025?

Colby, could other C-Brats join in with you if interested? This could be a C-Dory flotilla.

2024 SE Alaska cruise with 13 year old granddaughter

Jay, thanks for sharing. Much has been learned from you and Wrenny on this trip. So glad that both of you are now safely home to continue on with planned Summer activities with family and friends.

    Thinking of twin tohatsu 60s

Another thought with a single is thinking about the need to have a 'get me home motor' (kicker) if the main were to hit something and become disabled. The extra weight of twins could be a wash when a kicker motor is also installed on the transom. Although, if both twins were ever disabled, that...

    Thinking of twin tohatsu 60s

Does the $16,676 include sales tax? No sales tax at Sportcraft but I think they will only sell Honda and Suzuki. Like Jody says, give them a call.

2024 SE Alaska cruise with 13 year old granddaughter

I have been enjoying this Grand Travel Adventure. Thank you so much Jay and Wrenny. Jay, I am amazed how far you drove today on your 3rd day of travel to home. About 785 miles today in about 14 hours and 18 minutes (rest areas from west of Whitecourt, AB, Canada and to south of Butte, MT.) Your...

    Solar panels mounting

As I read this post, I am getting the hint that there is a need for air space under a solar panel for a cooling factor. We are using a Renogy 100w flexible panel and it has been trouble free for six years. The controller shows power at about 18 to 19 volts in full sun. We simply lay it on the...

    anchor snubber length

Sorry Richard, I failed to mention that we have about 15 ft. of line for the snubber. I agree with Bob Austin that using a line of 5/16" to 3/8" would be better for stretch. Thinking of switching to 3/8 inch.

    anchor snubber length

We are using 1/2 inch three strand nylon line for our snubber. Others may use different but this is good for us.

Boat Weight Dory 23 and trailer

We have a 23 Venture. I would say that with little fuel and no water, you are still going to have a total trailer, motor and boat weight of just under 5,000 lbs. It is amazing how the weight increases when you consider the factory options, anchor/chain, etc.

carpeting or slicks for bunk boards?

Hi Tom. Good to hear from you. Thank you for those numbers on electric travel economy. Was your calculations based on going with the tide? When we slow boat and go with the tide, I am amazed at the fuel economy of our C-Dory with a gas motor. Just want to compare apples to apples. Thanks...

    New trailer

NMI does a great job on the E-Z loader trailers they provide. Never an issue with ours since new in 2017. We opted for EOH, aluminum, oil bath hubs and disk brakes. Aluminum will save you about 100 lbs on trailer weight over galvanized. The boat fits and is supported perfectly on the trailer...
