    Anchor rode marking

All good ideas, you may want to cut 80 ft of chain off and use 40 attached to your rope rode however. C Dory's don't need all chain rode as some big boats use. Retrieving even 60-80 ft of chain without a windlass is no fun Our windlass is one of the top 1 or 2 items we put aboard. Forget...

Motor running, water hose not on - Stupid is ----

We have boat service people here who offer a winter check deal, they start the engines every couple of weeks or so and let them idle for 20 minutes. They are not doing anything but major harm by doing that! Diesels mostly and very bad. Outboards maybe less bad but still, you want to make...

    Sidney to Vancouver?

A good place is Porlier to cross GS, or if lumpy keep on till Gabriola pass seas beam on in NW or SE that way, done it lots in sail. Avoid the temptation to cross too early unless a really GREAT forecast, as Sandheads will kick your Okole if you let it. I give Vancouver a huge miss now though...

    25 Cruiser questions

If you're going new these guys build awesome boats. My 2011, 22 is absolutely rigid, always a well built design but the last few years have been really semi custom boats. The 25 is bigger all over than the 22 and those that own them love them. Jump on in, we need to slow to 12 knots in lumps...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

March 1 is Spring in BC so untarped the boat, did an initial clean, emptied the water tank of rv fluid, checked trailer lights and took it for a tow. Trailer all good, boat came thru winter just fine, ready to go. Likely first overnight in first week of March Yahoo!

    angler vs cruiser (16')

There are a couple folks who've cruised extensively with the 16 Angler, Brock on Bambina and the other one is Seasaw. Fitting a full camperback makes the boat plenty big enough to put a bunk in the cockpit, camp style The people who run 16's love 'em George

    Jeep Latitude Towing

I agree the Jeep would be marginal, for 22's a half ton p/u is fine, my '07 F150 Lariat has lots of margin to tow a loaded 22 or 23 If you plan to go to a bigger boat say cd25-26 in a few years, buy the bigger truck now so you are set later I like to buy about 3 model years old, major...

    Boat Show Trailers, Road Runner

As I recall my model is 4500 tandem, it's not stressed with our 22 anywhere we've gone, couple of interesting Colorado River bank launches above Yuma showed the low bunk position was helpful

    Boat Show Trailers, Road Runner

I have a tandem RR trailer, I have rebuilt the bearings and brakes twice in 20,000 miles. I feel for bopping around from home to the ramp they're fine. For long haulers I'd go with some other types maybe Float On. Springs, bunks etc are fine, but bearings and brakes are suspect even with...

    Electrical Dilemma

Hi Peter, you must have your electronics attached directly to your house battery, I know it's done. Better to have a Buss for your electronics and power it off your common post of the selector switch, this way no mater which battery you're using, you have power to the electronics. I use a Buss...

    Storing that 2nd Anchor...

Our main is a 22 lb claw so the second anchor has only been used in Lake Powell as a beach anchor We stow it in a canvas bag under the vee berth alongside the spare prop and tool box ( a bit of weight forward helps trim) the chain and rode are hooked on always and to deploy would take a minute...
