    Rub Rail Blues

I was also wondering if anyone had put anything where the rail meets the boat to stop water from going behind the rail, like a wax or something. I don't really want to do a silicone or anything that would get grunged up over a short period of time. But if the water is just flowing from the bow...

    Rub Rail Blues

We took off one rub rail insert today to take a look, because we had two rivets that had popped off inside near the bow, and the outside rail was sticking out about 1/4" sticking out at the bow. Interestingly, those look fine from the outside, but 4 other heads were off on the outside. We'll...

Foam in bow of 16' - necessary

Mark, I seem to remember a post where you talked about having an electric kicker? - can't find it, have looked at too many posts lately :)

Foam in bow of 16' - necessary

thanks Mark :) We'll probably take our chances, and see what the noise is like. I notice in your album that the Limpet has/had a 3.5 suzuki kicker. How did that do? I still can't get away from wanting a Torqeedo :) dang, may just do it and see what it's like :)

Foam in bow of 16' - necessary

I don't know about the foam being used to keep the hull in place when it was fiberglassed, the two blocks were just kind of loosely fitted in there, one had even dropped down. The "bulkhead" holding the foam in was barely caulked in, and held in place by two L-brackets on the top and bottom...

Foam in bow of 16' - necessary

This follows my earlier post in search of an easy way to access the bow eye bolts. We decided to take out the small bulkhead near the bow, which was attached with just top and bottom brackets, and a bit of caulking (and some flow in foam on one side), and behind that were two blocks of foam...

Bow eye ( guess it's also called trailer eye)

It turns out the small bulkhead was easy to get out, and there were two pieces of foam back there, one had just slipped down. Now it's very easy to get to those bolts, as well as a number of others. The bolts don't have a stainless backer, so we'll have to fix that - but it's connected to a...

Bow eye ( guess it's also called trailer eye)

thanks Mark, we have the same little bulkhead put in with small brackets. I just caulked it all in getting ready to paint the area. Now I think maybe we could remove that and have access to the bow eye, if the platform is cut back enough back there. Like your anchor setup, will have to look...

Bow eye ( guess it's also called trailer eye)

thanks for all of the feedback, I got back under there today and that piece in the pic that looks like a 1/2" piece of foam dropping down to the left of the bolts, is actually a very thick foam block - I'm not sure if it was intentionally put there, or if it slipped down from behind the -not...

URGENT EMERGENCY DSC CALL BUTTON USE

and, just a side note, getting the number was automated and was issued in about 2 seconds. with an auto email confirmation. So I don't think there's much cost involved, the new numbers are probably automatically sent to the USCG also.

URGENT EMERGENCY DSC CALL BUTTON USE

thataway, I didn't intend to disparage BoatUS, I'm sure they are a fine organization. I just don't like grey lines between government and private organizations :)
