Happiest day in this boater's life

Congrats on the new boat! She looks great. We're loving our 25' and I finally get to sneak out and do a few dives tomorrow. I also installed the roll control system for our dive tanks and they have worked great so far.

    Using the compass or not?

Due to interference from metals or electronics, you may not be able to mount it right next to the chartplotter. We've found that the most accurate place in our boat is on the dash, above the opening to the v-berth... it is further away from the metal, electronics, and windshield wiper motors...

    Using the compass or not?

We recently had some of our soft keys as well as the Lat/Long read out fail on our new Raymarine C-80. I realized it is time address the compass I have taped to the dash. After purchasing a Ritchie at West Marine I've been reluctant to permanently mount the compass because I don't understand...

    Pacific Coast Highway

I like any of the parks right around Crescent City Ca. The coastal redwoods are incredible. In June we camped, hiked and kayaked at Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park off of Hwy 199. There seemed to be plenty of places for a quick walk to stretch the legs.

Warp to Chain Splice and Whipping

Thank you all for taking the time to share your knowledge and posting links for this newbie. I have suddenly realized the vagueness of my original post. We do have a windlass and the original rode was back-spliced with tapered ends and passed through the windlass without any...

Buddy boat for Albies anyone? Monterey, CA

Hey Guys, New to the site. I was at Bodega yesterday hoping to head up to dive some pinnacles out of Salt Point. We ran into a few fishermen I know and they said they were hooking into Albacore about 20 miles out a bit north of Cordell Banks. Apparently they have been in pretty close all week...

Warp to Chain Splice and Whipping

Hello to everybody on this excellent site! My wife and I are the proud new owners of a CD25. I replaced the rode and chain to increase the length of both and after doing research on this site chose to use the "warp to chain" splice. My question is what method is preferred for "whipping" on...

    Welcome to the C-Brats!

Thanks for the welcome Roger. The electronic installation began yesterday so Saturday is looking good. I noticed in the pics of the SeaDNA (very nice boat) a sling launch is that correct? One of our favorite areas to dive here requires a sling to launch from the pier. Thanks again for...

    Welcome to the C-Brats!

Hi All, What a great site this is! We've been exploring this site over the last year or so while fantasizing about our very own C-Dory. If all goes well we will pick up our very own 2008 25' Cruiser this Saturday. :D We're looking forward to many excellent years scuba and free diving...
