09/05 - 09/08 - Mississippi River “Meet In The Middle"

Lee and Jan, The pies and dogs were great. Ken and Pat and Sharon and I are on the river camped on a sand bar 100 miles south of Minneapolis, headed north. Did anyone get some good photos of all the boats on the sand bar? If so, post them up. We are already looking forward to next year.

Fred Olness and Carmalita to the rescue

The first thing I installed in my offshore boat was a bilge alarm. Very easy and cheap.. Float switch from west marine in the bilge area and a loud car horn from the local auto parts store mounted under the center console.

    vertical road clearance

Interstate highways are 16' in rural areas, In urban areas only 14'. Expect a lot of 13' 6" when off the interstate. We towed our old houseboat at 13' 6" from Texas to Minneapolis and to Lake Powell and it was a constant pain in the rear. Might make it with a lot of planning. On a long...

    Gavins Point Dam

The Missouri was a very uncivilized river. No pleasure boats, few fishermen, no barge traffic, no locks, no marinas, Pretty much as Lewis and Clark saw it except for a few bridges and occasional town. A sand bar and a campfire every night. Just what we like.

Choice of kicker size for a 22' Cruiser?

5 Hp Merc 2 stroke on our 22 cruiser gives us 4.5 to 5 mph at half throttle, full throttle, barely 6 mph. We have a removable steering bar. I like the Merc's 40lb weight, shallow tilt settings, integral fuel tank, as well as built in connector for aux tank.

Honda EU2000i and Vector compact VCD 12k/1 airconditioner

Since this is kind of a Honda EU2000 thread, We just returned from a 2 week snow skiing trip in Colorado. Used the EU2000 with our Pickup camper to run 1600 watts of resistance electric heat at altitudes up to 11,000 feet with no problems. There is no extra starting load with resistance heat...

    Missouri River Cruising

We are considering the Missouri River this June. I take a folding luggage cart that transports 2) 6 gallon gas cans with ease. We often get gas at river towns at regular gas stations and convenience stores that are a short walk from the river. They are easy to find using Google map search...

CD-22 Anyone ever add a hot shower or marine head

The AC is permanently mounted in the back window. Out of the way and no problem and there when we need it. We heat the water to the desired temp and then unplug the 120 volt AC before use. We use a 2500 watt 240 volt element, draws 625 watts at 120volts.

CD-22 Anyone ever add a hot shower or marine head

We use our makeshift shower on our 22 quite often. I mounted a hot water heating element in a 6 gallon Portable ice chest. It will heat up off of marina power or the EU 1000 on the boat. takes about 10-15 minutes. I use a small 12 volt compact pressure pump from Northern Tool with spring...
