    Venture 23 vs Cruiser 22

South of Heaven, I do have a set of comparison photos of the CD 25 and the Cape Cruiser 26 (Venture). I will try to get an album together soon. When comparing, remember that the Cape Cruiser 23 and 26 do not have the same interior trim level as the C-Dory Venture 23 or 26. The interior of...

    Venture 23 vs Cruiser 22

This has been a good discussion about the two boats. Something to consider: The 22 Cruiser's hull design was last updated in 1987. The 23 was designed by the next generation of Tolands in the mid 2000's. The 23 is a refinement of the earlier C-Dory hulls. In case these photos have not been...

    Port Harvey Marine Resort "Setback"

That's good news about Port Harvey Marina. Minor correction...The VHF channel is 66a, or 66 Alpha, as in the USA mode. All Canadian marinas use 66a, they are not allowed to answer on VHF 16.

    C-Byrd - Byrdman Returns

Patrick, We used to use this launch ramp for Catalina trips. Its off the 405 freeway in Orange County. http://www.sunsetaquaticmrn.com/Home.aspx A good ramp in protected water and it used to have multi day parking.

    C Brats YouTube Channel

I think a Youtube channel is a good idea. A single place where C-Brats can post their videos. No one has to participate and it does not change this 'C-Brats' website. As to using the 'C-Brat' name on a Youtube channel, you should contact Tyboo and/or Da Nag by either PM or email. They are...

Considring replacing Windows 7 computer with Apple

You can download Apple iTunes 12.3.3 for Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10. It will sync your iPhone to your computer, and transfer photos. iTunes will also play music and video. You can also purchase music and movies from iTunes. The link for direct download from Apple is...

Considring replacing Windows 7 computer with Apple

I purchased my first Apple computer (Mac Mini) in 09 and a MacBookPro in 11. I got very tired of Microsoft PC problems, constant updates, security flaws, anti-virus programs, etc. My last Windows OS was Windows 7. First off, Apple computers are more expensive than Windows. What do you get...

Great Product for fog light option

If you blind another boater with those lights and there is a collision, YOU are 'at fault'! Colregs does not allow 'headlights' on boats.

    CG Approved Alternative to Flares

Dave, I agree a that true strobe light is nearly impossible to locate in rough conditions. It blinks, and by the time you move your eye to track it, it's off. The light in question is not a strobe. It is a blinking LED that blinks in S O S mode. I would like to see one operating at night...

    Navionics on iPad (or Droid)

South of Heaven wrote I purchased the iPad to use in my skiff (14ft Livingston) and I have not yet used it on the water. On my trawler, I have Coastal Explorer on a laptop, wired to a Furuno GPS, and radar. The new iPad has a feature where you can sign up for a data plan directly from the...

    Navionics on iPad (or Droid)

Some answers, 1. A cell/wifi iPad with Navionics does not need a cell data plan to work. You need to get the cell/wifi pad, not just the wifi pad. The GPS receiver is in the cell chip in the pad. You will have to download the charts for the area you need using wifi or a data plan. After...

    CG Approved Alternative to Flares

Perhaps a combination of the light and flares would work better than either one alone. Turn on the light, then fire a flare or two. If they see the flare, they can home in on the light. Flares only burn for a few seconds, whereas the light is on for many hours. Another good use for the...

Recreational Boating Association of Washington (RBAW)

Easy answer to 15% ethanol. DON'T BUY IT! If no one buys it, they will stop selling it. Right now, many marine fuel docks sell non-ethanol gasoline. Buy from them. My outboard's owners manuals say quite clearly, DON'T USE gasoline with over 10% ethanol. Same for our cars. Just don't...

    finishing teak

Most teak oil finishes have a smell. I would test that by applying the selected oil to a scrap of wood, letting it dry, put it inside the boat, and verifying that the smell is OK. Once you coat the wood inside the boat you have that smell for a long time!
