It Works! Yay!!
200 feet of 1/2 inch 3 strand rode and 40 feet of new chain. I actually managed to splice the rode without having to watch a YouTube video again. Bonus Points!
Great feedback gents! You got me thinking.
@Mike It seems they always recommend installing the breaker close to the battery and my battery is in the starboard lazarette. I like the idea of having it close by though. Thoughts?
@Steve Good point on possibly bumping the switch. The supplied...
I'm getting ready to wrap up my windlass install and currently trying to figure the best place to mount the rocker switch. So far I like this location best for a couple of reasons.
1. I've used this socket twice since we've had the boat. Once for the spot light and once to charge my handheld...

It took me a few days to get over the apprehension but I finally cut the BIG friggen hole.
Dug out balsa with a dental tool. Brushed in some wet epoxy.
Great write up Tom, and way to stay after it!
Just one thing. Would you mind giving a heads up next time you're going to attempt something like this? I'd like to buy some Lowe's stock before you head over there again.
The other day I added some mahogany furrowing strips to both sides of the upper cabin above the windows. They'll be used for attaching crap like roll -up curtains and what ever else I can think of. Glued up with 3M 5200 so they shouldn't go anywhere.
Then I made a riser to raise the helm...
