New backup camera AND reverse lights

For another project how about a wireless and water-proof rear (backup) camera for the C-Dory? I use a suction cup mount for the LCD display on my boat windshield when cruising, and simply move the wireless display to the truck windshield when towing. I find it much better than a boat rear view...

WOW!!! With 140 gallons useable we are talking over 700 miles at 5 to 6 mph :D

    TomCat Range

I tend to cruise around 20 mph and fuel flow averages around 1.9 mpg with twin Honda 150's. I consider a 250 mile range my max but always keep it under 200 miles for 'our' peace of mind. Ethanol free gas averages around $2.80 at our local marinas and $2.20 at the local quick stops so have yet...

    A question about hydraulic steering

When it comes to steering, vehicle or boat, I will gladly pay $300 more for a heavier duty system for the peace of mind of knowing I bought the best.

    Daily Laugh 2

Two businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, 'I bet any minute now some senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling.' No sooner...

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

HI Pat, FWIW - In my humble opinion I think you did good stopping where you did. I attended college in Hattiesburg MS, and was a flight instructor near Enterprise Alabama for a number of years, Both are half the distance you are from the gulf, and despite the many hurricanes and tropical...

An older lady gets pulled over for speeding... Older Woman: Is there a problem, Officer? Officer: Ma'am, you were speeding. Older Woman: Oh, I see. Officer: Can I see your license please? Older Woman: I'd give it to you but I don't have one. Officer: Don't have one? Older Woman: Lost it...

    Baystar helm leaking fluid

In fairness to Seastar my leak started with 2300 hours on the boat and after a long tow across the US with the motors not secured. I first diagnosed it as a shaft seal and thus the two shaft seal replacements, but it turned out to be internal. While I felt comfortable doing a rebuild, the...

    Baystar helm leaking fluid

I had much the same experience as the OP and after replacing two shaft seals I gave up and ordered a new unit versus trying to rebuild it myself. Some lessons learned: 1, Do not keep topping off the unit as there needs to be room for expansion. I personally leave about a 1/2 inch of airspace...

    Daily Laugh 2

An 85-year-old C-Dory owner was requested by his doctor for a sperm count as part of his physical exam. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, "Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow." The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar...

    03/06 - 03/08 St. John's River Florida CBGT

Count me in! This will be my third try. First cancel was knee surgery and last year was emergency gall bladder removal. I'm almost afraid to sign up fearing what my body will do to get out of it

    Repower Tomcat 255

When it comes to justifying more power, I can't even justify owning a boat. I generally cruise at 18 to 20 but that doesn't stop me from wanting quick acceleration or a little fun (spelled power) now and then. I darn sure don't need 400 hp in my F150 limited, but putting the pedal to the metal...

    Repower Tomcat 255

FWIW- I have 150's (w2500 hours) and will go with 175's when it comes time to replace. Suzuki 175 with fly-by-wire look interesting. My Honda's have thus far been bullet proof but I'm one of those "more-power" nuts

It finally happened to me..FOG AT NIGHT

Vicki and I use the Zello app on our iphones. We created our own network and use it as 'walkie-talkie'/intercom. It does require minimum cell service but has always worked for us even in very weak reception areas, plus and it doesn't drop calls. Also comes in handy for loading and unloading the...

    Flu shots

A study published in the medical journal JAMA found that getting a flu vaccine reduced the risk of heart attack, stroke, heart failure or other major cardiac events — including death — by about a third over the following year.
