FWIW - Mercury Marine specifies 55 ft pounds which is pretty significant. To give you an idea- 20 foot lbs equates to pulling on the wrench as hard as I can with my hand at the base of the wrench.

My local auto parts carries 'marine and off road' grease in a cartridge. You might have to throw the rest of it away if you don't have a grease gun, but what the ey' it will work in a pinch on your prop shaft
