Hi Harvey, The photo you have in the bottom of your post is a Toland 18-8.

    Duwamish River

What you consider navigable will depend upon the tide elevation and your sense of adventure. The Duwamish is definitely navigable past the South Park neighborhood up to the Delta Shipyards and the Duwamish Yacht club. At high tide I have taken an inflatable with a short shaft outboard up as...

    Marinaut Update

Congratulations Dave, Glad to hear the Marinaut is going back in production. This boat is one of the best designs out there for a trailerable pocket cruiser. I know that you and Ben Toland have put a lot of effort into a great design. Wishing you the best of success with the new builder.

    re-power for a Toland 18-8

Years ago I owned a Toland 18-8. One of my few life regrets was selling it! I purchased this boat new from the dealer in 1998. This boat was rigged with a 50 hp Honda OB. The 50 hp was adequate for how the boat was used, mainly for day trips and overnight trips in Puget Sound. We keep the...

Seattle Boat Show - Such a sparse showing

The boat building business has got to be one of the riskiest enterprises to enter. Looking back, there have been many northwest-built boats that are no longer being made, including Uniflite, Reinell, Cruise-a-Home, Jolly Roger, Mirage, Fiberform, Sabercraft, Bellboy, Olympic, Tollycraft...

    10/15 - 10/29 - 2017 Snake/Columbia River C-Dory Cruise

Great Video Floyd! After seeing your video, this trip is definitely on my bucket list. What kind of camera did you use as the dash cam on your boat? Cheers! Leo

Ranger moving strong into the outboard market

There is a downside to building a boat with a long-term production run. As the costs of boatbuilding continues to increase (labor, materials, etc.), the new boats being built start to compete with identical models in the used boat market. Well-constructed fiberglass boats don't wear out, and...

    Finally Cutting the Umbilical Cord!!!!

Congratulations Brock! I remember meeting you at the Blake Island docks just a few months before you hatched the 1st C-brats gathering in Langley. Looking forward to reading about your new adventures in your new boat. Cheers! :cocktail

Yes, it is a Toland 18-8. Designed and built by Ben Toland, you can see the C-Dory DNA.

    history of 18 footer

I previously owned a Toland 18-8 and it's a different boat that the 18' C-Dory. The C-Dory 18 is similar in design and construction to the "Classic" 22' C-dory Angler. The similarities include a painted fiberglass interior, lapstrake hull with accent stripe, cabin top with an overhang, but...

    State of the Marinaut Business

Since Les has moved on, there hasn't been much discussion on Marinauts. Are these boats still in production? This is such a nicely designed and crafted boat, that it would be a shame if the molds are sitting in a barn somewhere collecting dust.

    17' C-dory

The rolled gunnel is also a cost saving measure for the builder. Instead of having both a hull and deck mold, the rolled gunnel is integral with the hull mold. This detail stiffens the hull without the extra labor and materials required to mold a deck then fasten it to the hull. This detail...

C-Brats: Have you ever owned a VW bus/camper?

I have (mostly) good memories of my 1982 VW Westfailia Vanagon Camper (air cooled 2.0 liter engine & pop top). The Good: -Both my daily driver and my weekend escape vehicle. -Fits in downtown parking garages and almost any camp site. -Mini-galley with sink, 2 burner cook top, and...

    C-Brats history question

The original 24' Tomcat was designed during Mark Toland's ownership. The raked windshield and lack of roof overhangs on the cabin became a notable point of discussion. When Scot Reynolds took over C-Dory from Mark Toland, the Tomcat was redesigned with the traditional house and the exterior...

    Ranger Tug 23

It would be interesting to find out if it is a displacement, semi-displacement, or planing hull. While Ranger seems to have a lot of bling and features in their boats, I personally prefer the utilitarian appearance of C-Dory boats.
