Hi Pat,
I was thinking in terms of a "hard" bulkhead (marine plywood or MDO plywood) with fixed windows. I recall that one of the NW C-brats built an "aftermarket" hard bulkhead for his 19' angler.
Thanks,
Leo
I'm curious if anyone has installed an Alaska bulkhead on a 16' cruiser. I realize that the cockpit space is limited, so a sliding door (or doors) might work better than the single hinged door found on a 22' C-Dory.
Thanks!
Leo
Hi Bill,
A good information source for inflatable kayaks: www.inflatablekayakworld.com
This site appears to cover all of the major brands and provides specs for comparison purposes. Good luck with your search.
Hi Steve,
Welcome aboard. It would be interesting to hear what you have selected for power, trailer, electronics, accessories, canvas, and hull/deck color. Congratulations on the purchase of your new "pocket yacht".
Best Regards,
Leo
Adding a few feet to the Marinaut 215 hull and cabin to create a space for an enclosed head makes a lot of sense. The benefit of a dedicated enclosed head compartment (rather than a porta-potty under the v berth) might big selling point for a lot of couples.
Having an enclosed shower on board...
I have had great success for selling unwanted boating stuff at the Fisheries swap meet. The space is free, but I would arrive earlier than 6:00 am to stake out your "turf". I have heard that some folks show up around midnight on Friday night to set up their spaces, and some great "wheeling and...
Seabeagle,
You are asking a leading question, kind of like a wife or girlfriend asking: "Does this outfit make me look fat?" You are being a good sport with the wide variety of answers and opinions being offered to you.

If you are serious about selling your boat, you might consider consigning it with a reputable dealer. I consigned my Toland 18.8 with Les Lampman at E.Q. Marine and found it to be a worthwhile experience. Here are some reasons where consigning with a dealer makes sense:
1. The dealer keeps...
I agree that consignment with the right dealer is well worth the commission fee. I tried selling my Toland 18-8 on my own (through the C-Brat website) and discovered that a lot of folks just wanted to see the boat, with no interest in purchasing.
I delivered my boat to Les at EQ and he had...
There have been times in the past where a boat strikes the right chord with the marketplace and becomes a "best seller" with a long production run. Eventually, enough used boats of a given model are in the market to where the manufacturer is competing with the available used inventory . Three...
The original 25' C-dory "cruise ships" featured a wide dinette on the port side with a large head compartment located between the dinette and the aft bulkhead. The aisle space between the dinette if off-centered from the center-line of the boat, with the helm seat and galley to starboard...
Small Craft Advisor is alive and well. I subscribe to this magazine even though I haven't had a sailboat for awhile. This magazine captures the spirit of the late, great Small Boat Journal. This magazine "walks their walk". They published honest (but less than glowing) reviews of boats and...
Kudos to Brock for starting a great tradition. I remember reading Brock's post on the old C-Dog site. I made the journey from Des Moines WA to Langley in my trusty Toland 18-8 for the first C-dog gathering. I met Dave S., Brock, Roger, Fred, and "the usual suspects" that post here on a...
Hi Pat,
I just picked up a copy of Nor'Westing and read your article. I found it to be well-written and an enjoyable read.
In hindsight, the previous owners (not the Toland family) might of had visions of becoming the next Bayliner by taking a small regional boat building company and...
