Colby,
Thank you for your detailed response. I too had a conversation with the owner/designer of Airhead, when I purchased my 26. As mentioned previously, I was unwilling to keep the boat on/plugged in, when I was not on the boat. He mentioned the vent without the fan, that you have spoken...
Paul,
My 2000, 22 also had no cover over the anchor locker. To cover is for aesthetics and provide some ventilation and easy access, I had my canvas maker make a simple cover that has velcro, holding it in place.
The attached photo is with the cover pulled down...
Colby,
Great job on the head installation!
My AirHead originally had the small 12 VDC computer fan in the top of the vent line. Because I do not like to have any power on when I am not using the boat, I eliminated that and put the 4” solar Marinco fan in. There is the same vent on the bow...
Based upon my experience and advice from fellow radio tech’s, I went with the brand Digital and have been very pleased withe the overall quality of the antenna.
Schuster,
Too bad that you don't live near me, as I have all of these in my shed and let people try them all until they finally decide if they want a boat that planes, or want to be able to easily lift an outboard on and off of their transoms, without hoist, or fear of dropping them.
Last month...
My post is to show that AIS information layered on top of a chart on a chart plotter has the benefit of allowing the boat operator (me), to have real time information about AIS targets, relative positions, related to the real time position and orientation. Also the target vessels receive the...
My AIS black box em-trak ET-430-0013, B953, purchased from Milltech. It sends and receives and has a built in splitter for using the same antenna, as my VHF radio.
I have a Standard Horizon with AIS receive, but as is clear in this photo and the next, overlaying on the chart platter gives better immediate information. The screen on the radio has a bunch of dots, that are so close together, to provide little information, aside from having a LOT of targets.
Ken,
I initially went with the Standard Horizon, that received AIS. I didn't find the very small screen on the radio useful, as I am usually in a high traffic area. Using the NEMA 0183, I sent the info to my Gamin chart plotter and was very pleased to see the information overplayed on my...
You got one on me... I worked on a 90 Tohatsu last year and it was the same as Honda. Guess things have changed and I have not looked at the latest of their offerings.
Take a side by side look at the Honda and the Tohatsu... They are both exactly the same, with different paint and decals and both are made by Honda.
It's interesting how manufacturers work together to sell various product lines, for example all Tohatsu small outboards are relabeled as Mercury...
The prop on the 6 hp Tohatsu can be changed to achieve high thrust, for heavy loads. This outboard is sold as a Sailpro, but the prop is REALLY the only difference, aside from the 12 volt charger, off of the engine, which will provide a small charge to a battery.
I changed the prop on my 6 hp...
Serpa4,
The Tohatsu, Nissan, Mercury and Evinrude 4 stroke, 4, 5 & 6 are exactly the same outboard and all weigh exactly the same. These are all made by Tohatsu and aside from the decal on the cowling are the same. They get the extra HP with different carburetors. They do have 3 shaft lengths...
I am not particularly fond of Harbor Freight’s tools for real everyday use, but I have more than one boat and I have one their all in one tool kits on each boat. I do customize the kit on each boat, to ensure that I have tools for their specific needs, like a socket, just for removing the prop...
Westward,
I filled mine last week and never spilled a drop.
First, open the cabinet and get all of the things away from the perimeter of the tank. Unscrew the lid to the tank. Loosen the strap from around the tank. Move the fuel container, still upright, away from its mounting location, just a...
