Choice of Electric over hydraulic actuator

Just out of pure curiosity... I wonder if there's some way to wire the break-away to the batteries on the boat. Could just plug it in to a downrigger outlet (or something similar). Maybe even install an outlet on the bow somewhere. You'd have to remember to connect/disconnect it whenever you...

    What would you do?

My opinion? If Bar's Leaks can plug a blown head gasket, it can certainly plug oil passages. And that is not a good thing... The only time I'd use that stuff is if I knew I was going to be junking the rig, but I still neeeeeeeded to get a few more miles out of it first.

    What would you do?

I'm cheap. I'd just fix the truck. Any other option will cost way more than $1500. (Of course, I'd just do it myself. Total cost would be about $100-150 for gaskets and fluids. Well, that, plus a weekend of my time...)

ANY UPDATE ON NMI FACTORY FIRE/REOPENING

Um... If they are going to sell new boats, they will need a facility in which to build them. I may be wrong, but I think that's probably their priority right now.

    Raymarine customer service

I'm certainly not saying that "Raymarine's technical community" doesn't have value. In fact, I'm sure it's a great resource for those that are dealing with problems concerning Raymarine's products. But - again - I have to wonder why they won't respond to Flint's phone calls and emails regarding...

    Raymarine customer service

Ray - Folks shouldn't have to post their problem on a forum to get service from a manufacturer. That's just wrong. And, your acceptance of the fact that they will leave a customer 'out in the cold' - for any reason - tells me that you have no clue about what it means to care about a customer...

What Inverter to use for heater while motoring

The only inverter that I would use to run a 1500w heater comes attached to a Honda eu2000i generator. Everything else is just too ... problematic.

    Help identifying stove

Thanks for the info on the Princess, Sunbeam. I'm currently right in the middle of installing a new Webasto 30Dt heater in my Cape Cruiser because the Wallas 800 single burner stove (with a blower lid) that it came with just isn't going to cut it as a heater for winter cruising up here in...

    Help identifying stove

Except for the font, that certainly looks like the same one. Thanks, Ray! I was thinking it said "Primus", but I can now see that it says "Princess".

Longest cruise in an Angler 16

I didn't use anything fancy, just regular cleats like you would tie a dock line to (but smaller).

Longest cruise in an Angler 16

The tanks were Moeller saddle tanks. And, no... I didn't replace the foam.

Longest cruise in an Angler 16

The last trip on my 16 Angler, I took her out 75 miles from port over a three day weekend with the wife. Logged close to 200 miles (statute) on that trip running a 70hp 2-stroke Johnson fed from a pair of 24-gallon saddle tanks. I strung hammocks from the helm to the transom and rigged a tarp...

    Honda BF90 Tachometer Readings

It's a beautiful thing, Jack. Spent the 4th of July weekend out in PWS with the nephews. Plenty of room for everybody. Caught a bunch of reds, a halibut, and topped it off with a few gallons of shrimp to break her in right. Wife loves the hot water, stand up shower, and flushing head. Think...

    Honda BF90 Tachometer Readings

On our last trip out, I had to start tapping on the Honda voltage gauges. They would work for a while, then show low voltage, or nothing at all. Separate volt reading on the Navman indicated that voltage was good. Tap -tap- tap on the Honda gauges and all was back to normal for a while. Haven't...

    Do I Need Trailer Brakes?

Well, Bob, I'm trying to ignore the palpable condescension in your previous post. But, I have to say that I do use my boats almost exclusively in salt water. (So maybe my opinion counts.) I've used electric drum brakes on my boat trailers for the past 10 years with very few issues, save a...
