You'll see the o-ring when you take the water pump off. It seals between the outer diameter of the cylindrical shoulder on the bottom of the water pump, and the housing for the lower unit. You can't see it in the photo, but if you tilt the pump 45 degrees, you can't miss it. The surface you're...
Tom, that thing in the photo with etching is a bearing, and it's the last thing you want to mess with.
The water pump seals to the lower unit housing, just above the bearing, via an o-ring, and to the shaft via two stacked seals. You can find them on boats.net
Looks like you've got the right part number. My 2003 has a different one, and only uses a single seal. They changed to two seals sometime around there, and apparently changed the part number too, since the exploded diagram at boats.net shows two for 2005 models with the part number you have...
EZ manufactured some trailers with a slightly undersized axle shaft. The standard grease seal fits loose over these axles, allowing water to enter the bearings. Suggest you get a seal from whomever is doing your work, pull one of the wheels and hub, and see how the seal fits onto the axle shaft...
Colby:
Sanford is two hours south from Hontoon, on Lake Monroe. There's a public dock, but no overnight there. Suggest you call Monroe Harbor Marina at 407/322-2910 and make a one night reservation. They're dirt cheap. I'll send you my cell number by private message.
We plan on having lunch...
Plan to launch Alma's Only at Ed Stone on Friday, overnight at Sanford to get some of that great German food, then on Saturday head back past Hontoon Island and take the Norris Dead River route up to DeLeon, anchoring overnight just down river from the Deleon Springs. Will probably anchor...
I've been told by Scan Marine that the pump can't be serviced, and have proven that once myself. Call Scan and order a used one from them. Install fairly soon, and if there are any problems, they'll swap for another. Otherwise, you'll be good to go.
Don't know what you mean by "high pressure". Please confirm you are talking about the in-line plastic filter located on the starboard side under the motor cover, just below the carbs. If so, I can give you Honda and Sierra PN's.
Anyone wanting help on getting their DSC set up should be sure to obtain an MMSI number, program it into their VHF radio before the gathering, and post the number to the c-brats web site so that others can program it into their call directories. Also, be sure to bring your VHF and chartplotter...
I've got a 24 inch long section, with the synthetic fabric seal strip. You'd have to cut it to length (mitre saw does a nice job), and paint to your preference. Yours for the shipping. Send me a pm if you want it.
