    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Well, I finally found a great boating partner.....Muffin had a great time, said Roger's rib eye was the best she'd ever tasted. As usual, the So. Cal. mantra held true again......leave early to avoid the winds. Winds howled at all times except when we transited, making the cruise very pleasant...

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Good news, I think. My truck is ready with a rebuilt tranny. Going to pick it up tonight, so I now have the option tomorrow of trailering up to Santa Barbara. See everyone at the Landing tomorrow bright & early.

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Weather's handing us a bummer. Small Craft Warnings for tomorrow through Saturday. Winds 10-15 early, 15-25 later with higher gusts. Seas 4-6, 11 secs. Never know what it's going to look like when we get outside, as the forcasts are for the Santa Barbara Channel, and that includes the "windy...

How about we leave CIH at 0900 (minimize fog) and have brunch in SB?

    08/17 - 08/23 - 2008 Catalina Island Adventure in Paradise

Well, yet again, I'm not going to be making the trip. Just returned from an overnighter to LA Harbor, doing escort duty for the arriving CGC Eagle and about a dozen other tall ships. Quite impressive and I got dozens of great photos. Worked at the station all day today, and have to teach a...

    Noisy windshield wipers

You guys are the greatest. Battery puller is the right tool for this job. Will try to locate the set screws then use the battery puller. Thank you all. Of course, once I get it off, I'm not sure if there is anything I can adjust to make it run quieter. I don't want to buy another one of the...

    Noisy windshield wipers

Thanks, Jim looks like I'm in for a bit of "fun". BTW, my starboard wiper is the one giving me problems, and it's installed upside down from the way the port one is installed. You think that makes any difference? The sweep and park is ok.

    Noisy windshield wipers

Jim, Sounds like my identical problem, right down to the difficulty in getting the wiper arm off. I tried and failed, finally gave up frustrated. When you finally cut the wiper arm off, did you discover what was holding it on so tightly? Was it just friction and corosion?

    Noisy windshield wipers

It seems to me when they were new, the wipers were almost silent. They quickly started making rumbling noise.....not from the blades, but within the motor housing. They work fine, just noisy. Anybody experience this and discovered why, and a solution?

    08/17 - 08/23 - 2008 Catalina Island Adventure in Paradise

Ron, I think you and Wendy make a great pair. Actually, she already has......no I won't go there!! The bigger question is: will Roger's boat be ready for the trip? It seems to be taking forever to get it finished. It's so forlorn looking sitting there with it's wires hanging out! At this...

    DIESEL GETTING UGLY

Well, sure, one option is to become a third world country....go back to the stone age. That's not very grown up behavior. Nor is allowing our elected officials to promise everything, then do nothing. What's childish is to trash your toys and go sulk in the corner. What we do need is to...

    DIESEL GETTING UGLY

Great!! The Chinese were known for millions of bikes on the road.....now the're buying oil for their new cars, and we're reverting to bicycles!!! ....and the bikes are probably made in China! Mike

    The "Hawk" is here

Roger, Checked out your new lazarette covers to see if the opening is larger than mine, wihich have the standard covers. Yours seems about an inch longer, but about the same in width. I have two batteries in the starboard lazarette, requiring that the entire cover frame be removed to get the...

    The "Hawk" is here

Rog, Saw your new boat today. Looks just like the old one....C-Couch and all. Really like the lazarette covers......Bob says he has some on order for stock.....will have him swap out mine. With two batteries (group 24s) in the starboard box, I'd have to take the whole cover frame off to get...

    Repairing holed hull while underway

Learned this trick from the Coast Guard. Best darn plug for holes in fiberglass is a Nerf football!! Sealife carries a couple. They can easily be wedged into any shape hole without danger of splitting the hull further. Simple, inepensive, and very effective.
