    Financing

Hi Dave and thanks. You are right. I was actually born in Washington State. Washington State does not have an income tax, which is nice and people can travel here and avoid tax on general sales items. The State of Oregon has been trying for years to have a sales tax but the voters keep shooting...

Auxiliary outboard bracket: Why keep it?

Good choice. The motor bracket looks good and it adds value to the boat. Removal would involve time and expense with a color match and gel coat work. It is definitely a good option to keep on your boat.

    Financing

So sorry to hear about all of this taxation with the initial purchase or annual ownership of a C-Dory boat. In Oregon, upon the purchase of a boat or automobile, there is no tax of any kind nor any kind of taxation after ownership. Not the reason why we moved here but thought I should make...

Twin 20hp on 16ft Cruiser. Doel Fin? Permatrim? One or two?

JohnnyRambles, Surprised that nobody has gotten back to you sooner. Permatrims on your motors would be a great addition to get a better lift on your transom upon acceleration. I hope others will chime in but this addition will be cost effective for your needs. With our boat, we still do not...

    Autopilot Principles

I worked hard to justify not having auto pilot on our boat. Put it in a couple of years ago and so glad that we did. If we ever get another boat, I will justify the expense for another AP. Colleen especially loves it. When we fish for salmon off the west coast of Oregon, Colleen is the Captain...

I don't know what to call it

That’s our boat (DayBreak)! My wife made that. Fabric is a canvas material. We have another like it for more storage on the bulkhead in front of the passenger seat which is also in our photo album.

    C-BRATS 2025 Calendar: Requesting Photos!

Thanks for your understanding Colby. I was looking forward to seeing a couple of your photos in the calendar. We advertised with the formal request early enough. Don’t know why there wasn’t more interest.

    C-BRATS 2025 Calendar: Requesting Photos!

Sorry guys, but Julie from NMI has notified us that she doesn’t have enough photo entries to make a 2025 C-Brats calendar. Thank you for those that have taken the time to enter some wonderful photos for a calendar but we needed more entries. Hopefully we can try again next year for 2026. We can...

    Who runs the boat

It doesn’t matter if a person is male or female, what matters is who is more capable. In our case, Colleen is more capable and does a better job to secure the boat to the dock and handling the anchor and rode. She comes from a sailing background and so I defer much of the work to her in these...

    Boat log

Someday, when the boat is sold, I have a 'captains logbook' for DayBreak that shows every day that the boat has been operational on the water. We (Colleen and I) have quite a few daily entries so far. I make a note on the current page to show any scheduled maintenance performed. This will be...

    Tenders (Dingys)

We use our 2-person inflatable kayak when cruising. When on a mooring buoy or on anchor, it gets us to shore and to sightsee. http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?full ... _photo.php

    03/04 - 03/06 - Hontoon Island, Florida 2025

RDiemidio, welcome to the group at C-Brats and we hope you have a great time at the gathering. Also, congratulations on the purchase of your new 2024 C-Dory 23 Venture. We look forward to seeing many photos of your travels and adventure with your new purchase. Contact the administrators of this...

    F150

Not all half ton trucks are the same. Hope Colby chimes in with his heavier duty and higher capacity options on his F150. He tows his CD 25 all over the country with it.

anyone having C-Dory built by NMI?

Thanks for the clarification on the tunnel height. From my reading on past C-Brats posts, it seems like an increased tunnel height would be good to lessen the effect of 3 ft. pounding swells in the open ocean. I guess that has not happened and so the current design must be good on tunnel of the...

anyone having C-Dory built by NMI?

Good news with the increased height of the sponson on the Tomcat. This has been an issue with the original 255 design. I have nothing but good things to say about Greg Little at NMI. Greg took daily photos of our 23 Venture during construction (see our photo album) and suggested additional items...

    Wallas stove/heater back draft

https://wallas.fi/product/85-dt/ 7 years now with our c-dory factory installed Wallas dt-85. No issues ever with it. We also run the unit monthly for 15 minutes and only use diesel fuel.

    Low RPM at WOT?

Those RPMs seem awfully low for those motors. Check the specs, but I would think those motors need to be running at about 5500 RPMs at WOT unless you had an incredible amount of weight on that vessel. Those RPMs will definitely be lugging the motors and will cause damage in the long term. Sounds...

    C-BRATS 2025 Calendar: Requesting Photos!

Colby, we love your photos and great idea on photos of the boat on a trailer while traveling. You do a lot of that! :) To make Julie's job easier the photos were limited to 8. Feel free to contact her at NMI to see if you could send more. Thanks.

    Upper Tennessee River, October 2024

Colby, great photos! Make sure you submit some of the photos of your trip for the 2025 C-Dory C-Brats calendar. Have fun and be safe.

    23 Cape Cruiser HID

Basically, Cape Cruiser was built after Ben Toland sold the C-Dory company. Ben continued to build boats and his design and build was too close to the boat company that he just sold. With a non-competition clause in the agreement when he sold C-Dory, he was sued and the penalty in the court case...
