    C Gypsy

I just bought a new to me, 1999 22 foot cruiser and I'm looking forward to exploring the areas around Vancouver Island and the Pacific North West. I've had it out for a test drive and now I'm busy packing and organizing for its maiden voyage, which should be lots of fun. My previous boat, a 19...

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

That is encouraging. I just talked to a dealer here who quoted me $2000. $1200 for the unit, $200 for hoses, $500 for labour. I'm going out on the water for a week, so I will know by the time I get back how important hydraulic steering is. Thank you.

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

OK, That explains why they don't go in opposite directions. It sounds like Hydraulic steering may help, but I'm not sure if it is the answer. Does anyone have an estimate of the cost? I'm guessing between $1 000 and $1 500. Please tell me my estimate is too high :)

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

The current cable steering is teleflex. We played with the tabs and it made a very marginal difference, but not enough. It sounds like a hydraulic system is the answer. I will look into what is involved in getting one. I'm still open to other suggestions, but I think the answer is pretty...

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

Thank you for the suggestions. It is cable steering and both motors turn the same way. We actually discussed the trim (torque) tabs on the motor and I think that is something I can check into. What if I took them off to test the system. Would that make it worse or should I just adjust them...

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

I have just purchased a 22' Cruiser with twin Honda 50a and will be enjoying doing some cruising this summer. However, my first challenge is to resolve a steering issue. In general the steering is a little bit stiff, but when you turn the wheel all the way to the left, if feels like the...

Single Handing Safety Tips and Considerations

I usually go out by myself an alcohol is not an issue, however last summer I took a couple of friends and they brought a case of beer, which they enjoyed. The more they enjoyed the more relaxed they became and I realized that I needed to watch them so they didn't do anything stupid, they...

    1992 C-dory 22-cruiser $23.500 (Free delivery in lower 48)

That is exactly the problem. I think I need to wait until I find one for sale in Canada because right now this boat would cost me over $30,000 in Canadian dollars. I liked it better when it was the other way around.

    Swim Grid - Reboarding Ladder

Yea, there are so many details. I think I would want the swim step on the right hand side along with an additional grab bar mounted to the transom. That way, I would have something to grab onto when I climbed up. (as we get older this stuff becomes more important). Because I am right handed...

    Swim Grid - Reboarding Ladder

Those are good suggestions. I never thought about which side the kicker was on, but you are right about having better access to the tiller.

    Swim Grid - Reboarding Ladder

Greg That looks like exactly what I need, but why did you take the kicker off? Could the step have gone on the other side of the main motor? Is it possible to have a motor, a kicker, and swim step on a 22' cruiser? I would still need to have a kicker or twin motors?

    Swim Grid - Reboarding Ladder

I am new to the forum and so far do not have a boat. But, the question I will be asking when looking for one is "How do I get back on board the boat if I fall off?" How can I install a swim grid or re-boarding ladder? I know many people carry a ladder that they put over the side of the boat...
