    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

I decided to get a Garmin Stiker 4 for $160. It was both the smallest and cheapest depth sounder I could find. I will also use Navionics on my tablet. That will give me a backup depth sounder in the future and more time to wait for sales and decide what I really want. Thank you everyone for...

    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

Thank you everyone for so much insight. I totally agree about not wanting to mix manufacturers. If I choose the Garmin Chartplotter, I know I will need to get a Garmin autopilot. If I choose the Ray Marine or Lawrance autopilot for future upgrade, I will get a Ray Marine or Lawrance chart...

    Wiper blades

Nappa Part Number 6-1233. I just bought one this morning and it was easy to replace and fit perfectly on my 1999 cruiser with manual wipers. Some earlier posts listed the part number as 60-1233 and when I went to Nappa, I was told that was the old part number and the number is 6-1233.

    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

Yes, there is a power button on the top right corner, but it is the only button. I meant there weren't any function buttons. I will try the reset. That would be great if it worked.

    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

I haven't tried what you described, but I have been following the instructions from Garmin Support. I will try your master reset and hope for the best. Thank you so much for the instructions. My plotter has only a touch screen with no buttons anywhere and because the touch screen won't work...

    16 feet to Clayoquot Sound

Mark, thank you for the update on Tofino. I am considering going, but I haven't mustered the courage to tow my boat over that road yet, but I think I might. I just need a tiny bit of motivation at the moment. Did you anchor out during your week in Claquot Sound? Were there lots of places...

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

I am considering the West Coast of Vancouver Island this month or next month but I would rather go with another boat. Is anyone planning to explore that area this year?

    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

I am looking for a Chart Plotter. My Garmin Echomap 70s touch screen quit working after I did a recent recommended update. They have been discontinued and Garmin says it is not not fixable because they don't have any parts for it and they can't undo an update. I bought it in 2015. Yes, I have...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

That is exactly what happened to me. However, the joy of having twin motors is that I just came home slower than I would have chosen. But, I did come home even though I wanted to stay out longer.

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

I just think of myself having a very expensive tow bill because I didn't know that I just had to push a button to start the engine.

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

Thank you so much for the tips AND THE PICTURES. I really, really appreciate the suggestions and I feel far more confident to go back out on the water. I will be going out in a couple of days to see how it works and if I a problem again I will know what to look for. Thank you, thank you, thank...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

Thank you for that explanation. It is one less thing for me to worry about, but none the less, I am going to get the battery situation fixed. I'm still not sure why they were joined. Mechanical breakdowns and maintenance on the boat are still my biggest challenges. I don't know enough about...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

I have no idea what a charge coil is or does. Is it possible that a damaged charge coil could cause the motor to not start when it is warm? I have twin Honda motors. A friend - without my permission - hooked both my batteries up in parallel for some reason that I don't understand. So basically...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

I hope it might be as simple as that. I hate intermittent problems, but I will see if that helps. However, I am still open to other suggestions so I have more things to try. But, now I am more motivated to go out and test it out again. Thank you os much for the suggestion. It started doing...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

Joe, thank you for all the questions. When I turn the key, the guage on the dash does move so I know there is power getting to the ignition, but I don't really hear a click. I did wiggle the wire around the kill switch when it first happened and that didn't seem to make a difference, although...

    Wiring advice requested (sorry!)

I know this is an old thread but it answers some of the questions that I would ask. I want to add an "Add-a-Battery" kit, but I have twin engines that would both be running at the same time. Would I wire them the same way as in the diagram? Can I have two engines running at the same time...

    Intermittent Engine Starting Problem

I have twin Honda motors on my boat. I never had any problems starting them until this week. I ran both engines for about an hour and then stopped for gas. When I tried to start the motor, nothing happened - the starter did not make any noise. It was almost like it was not even connected but...

    05/17 - 05/19 - Friday Hbr CBGT, 2019

Although Canada welcomes US boaters, Canadians cruising into the US must buy a "cruising licence" for $19 USD. The licence lasts for one year.
