I have new gas tanks (me were stolen), new steering, a place to park my van and trailer in Cowichan Bay, and I'm on my way to buy new spark plugs and other necessities. Then it looks like I will be ready to go. I hadn't used my boat in almost two years and mechanics are difficult to find at...

Some of us coming to Friday Harbour will be from Canada and others from the US will be going to Canada after the gathering. Does anyone know the proper flag protocol when cruising in another country? I think I am supposed to fly both the Canada flag and an American flag. I think my own...

I think we had this conversation a few years ago, but I searched the forum and can't find it so maybe it was my imagination. Do we have a C-Brats Group MMSI#? If we do, how many C-Brats actually use it or have it programmed into their radio? It would be a great way to communicate with other...

I would like to spend some time south of the Canadian border after the gathering. Is anyone else going to be cruising around the area or have good suggestions about where to go and what to see. I will have about 10 days after the gathering.

    2019 Summer Cruising ideas

My purpose in getting a boat was to explore the coast and I'm retired so I have lots of time to do that. Pack warm clothes because the Broughtons can be cold and wet, although I was lucky the year I went and it was really nice. A lot of people head north and completely bypass Lasquiti and...

Two Bears said Four boats went to Princess Louisa a couple of years ago after the Powell River Get Together. I can give you some tips about what learned. Let's talk at Friday Harbour. My plan is to spend some time exploring in the San Juans after Friday Harbour IF and it is a big IF my boat...

    Assist help

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. They always seem to take a long time to heal. When I had a guest on my boat and I wanted space and separation, I took the centre cushion out of the V-Berth so I was actually able to crouch and walk in and sit on the bed and then climb in. The bed was...

22 Cruiser Cockpit size, 4 adults

I have something similar to Jay and it is much easier to have extra people in the cockpit without extra chairs taking up space. The bench also works as a step to get in or out of the boat from the back or the swim grid. I had 8 people on my 22 cruiser. One laying on the V-Berth, two sitting...

Campbell River Boat Launching and Truck/trailer Parking.

I usually launch at Pacific Playground. https://pacificplaygrounds.ca/ There is no secure parking but you can park on the street for free and I think it is relatively safe. I would feel safer leaving my trailer there than I would in the free parking lot in Campbell River. You are right...
