Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

Regarding the poor performance in between hull speed and planing speeds, Bob is right in stating that he could get on plane at 14-knots with his different props and PermaTrims. I can get on plane at about 16-knots, but the boat 's angle is a bit better at 18-knots, and that's where it feels...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

I don't think the transom issue is a design flaw as much as an odd characteristic of the TomCat. As others have posted, every boat is a compromise, and I've simply accepted the few limitations of the TomCat's design. After a year of extensive cruising, I must say that I'd rather be on the...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

I'm a relatively new TomCat owner, having taken delivery of mine a year ago. Since then I've cruised the Chesapeake Bay, Lake Champlain and from the Florida Keys to Jacksonville. Having run monohulls all my life, there is a lot to get used to with a TomCat. She's a great boat in anything less...

"Lost" Abandoned Boat's Journey across the Atlanti

The boat was a 26-foot Regulator. I've run these boats in rough seas, and they are incredibly seaworthy.

    C-Dories in the Florida Keys

Hi Dave and Ginny, Thanks for responding with your winter cruising plans. I will try and hook up with you somewhere along the way, as I plan to be down south from mid-December through the end of March. I'll also be trying to meet other small boat cruisers for an article in PassageMaker...

    C-Dories in the Florida Keys

Bob, Glad to know I'll have a chance to meet you. Your writing on C-Brats is partly responsible for my decision to buy a TomCat, and I'm happy I did.

    Adding photos to album

Sorry to bother you Tyboo, but I can't seem to figure out how to build an album. When I click on my album with the one photo and then choose and click on "Add Photo" in the upper right, nothing happens. No rush, just would like to add some recent photos.

Is the Tomcat 255 still being built?

I recently purchased a "new" 2009 TomCat from Marc at Wefings and could not be happier. During a two week cruise on Lake Champlain this month, I ran into the owner of "Destiny," another 2009 TomCat who also bought his from Marc. Like us, Peter and his wife could not be happier. A couple of...

Would you buy a C-Dory on sale?

I applaud the efforts of Kitsap, and I believe Marc Grove at Wefings has also considered adding a couple of new C-Dory models to his inventory. (I recently purchased a "new" 2009 TomCat from Marc....the last of his unused inventory.) But as a marketing consultant for the marine industry (as...

    C-Dory Burgee Order!

We are new to the C-Dory family and are looking to buy one or two burgees. Does anyone stock a supply of these? I contacted herb@halling.com and he prefers orders of 25 or more. Thanks.

My oberservations after my first ride on a C-25 and Tomcat

Thanks Capt. Matt. Sounds like I'll need to play around more with speed, trim and angle of seas. You mention that you cruise at 22 knots at 3200 rpm. Sounds like I might also need to to consider different prop pitch as my Suzukis run 3750 rpm at 22 knots. They'll burn 11 gph total at that...
