Dessert 1st to the St. John's River

Sorry we missed it. Looks like a good time was had by all. Glad the rest of the trip is going well. Today we are planning on boating up to Inlet Harbor restaurant in Daytona for lunch. Have not had the boat out in couple of weeks so we are looking forward to it.

Dessert 1st to the St. John's River

Casey and Mary Great photos. Sorry I did not see this sooner. Would have made the short run down to Hontoon Island. Enjoy the rest of the trip. Weather has been great.

    Sheepshead

Sheepshead are true bait stealers. I have found smaller hooks and smaller peeled pieces of shrimp do the trick. My first experience with Sheepshead was off the jetty in New Smyrna Beach. The gentleman next to me was pulling in one large Sheepshead after another eventually filling up a small...

Anyone ever joined a boat club?

I appreciate the input. Next meeting is the middle of November. Seems like the place to start. I too wondered about the "50 foot" yacht folks. Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes.

Anyone ever joined a boat club?

I'm thinking of joining the Daytona Beach Boat Club. Not sure what to expect. Anyone had good experiences with their local boat club?

    "...Oh, what a Cute boat!"

I was coming out of a Dollar General store after coming off of the St. Johns river one Sunday when I noticed an older couple parked next to boat, rolling down their car windows and admiring the boat. They thought the boat would be perfect for them and wanted to know how easy it was to trailer...

Has anyone bought a Yeti cooler? Are they worth the small fortune they cost?

How long can I leave my lights on?

I like to fish early. I have dual 12 volt batteries which I try and make sure are fully charged before going out. My question is, how long can one sit in a fishing spot with all the lights on before worrying the battery drain will prevent you from having enough power to start your engine.

    Radio silence

Thanks Bob I was able to get back to West Marine and we were able to use channel 26 to Sea Tow in Ponce Inlet so it is working.

How often do you use your shore power?

I also have "Battery Tender" which I have yet to put to use. So far because my batteries are new and I am using the boat weekly they have stayed pretty close to fully charged.

Shallow water drive question on main engine.

As someone who has gotten stuck when using my 2 and 1/2 foot drafting Duffy, I am paranoid of shallow water. The beauty of the Gheenoe was that you could shut down the engine, hop out, and push or drag the boat over the sand bar to deeper water. I had the same question being asked originally...

    Radio silence

Thanks Harvey. I'll give it a try. I'm also stopping back at West Marine where I bought it today.

    Radio silence

I have a hand held floating Standard Horizon HX 300. So far I have not had much luck using it. I have it tuned to channel 16 but do not hear anything. Is there a step I am missing?

    work

Well said El and Bill. I retired some 7 years ago at age 55. Then I decided to "give back" and took a job close to home helping families. Going on 3 years later I am looking forward to retiring again. Unfortunately you get used to the "extra money" and have to rethink about what it is that is...

Anyone else ever left their plug out?

Chuck I like the suggestion. Touch the plug prior to launch.
