SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Took our friends out halibut fishing today probably for the last trip this year. The launch ramp closes after tomorrow but there is 6 footers and small craft warnings for tomorrow. We had a great day, finally, fishing for halibut. No big slabs but some nice fish to top off our freezer. Flat...

    Boats Steering System Noises

Tug, When my old 1983 CD Classic had the steering fail for the 2nd time I replaced it with hydraulic. My cable steering lasted about 10 yrs for each one. The hydraulic is still doing fine. If you ever change to hydraulic you will wonder why you had not done it sooner. The biggest PITA about it...

Trailer Tire Monitor Systems for Heavy Rigs

I have used TST sensors for 3 yrs w/o any problems on my 5th.whl. with metal valve stems. Last year I sold the 5th.whl. but kept the TST system. I installed them on a boat trailer with rubber stems. They operate OK but after several hundred miles I noticed that centrifugal force bent the stems...

    Jabsco pump failures

Good point on the China parts. I have a box full of Jabsco parts from 3 pumps. All of the motors work but the pump and switch parts are ??????. My pump is mounted just as Jabsco required. I have partially solved my problem with my wash down pump. I removed the pressure switch and replaced...

    C-Dory Sightings

Saw a C-Dory in a parking lot in Homer, Alaska the other day. I pulled up to talk with the owner and he called me by name. Turns out it was a CD I pulled up from Washington several years ago. It was all wrapped in shrink wrap then and looked like a big white banana behind my truck. Also...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Congrats on your NUTOU boat. You will get many days of pleasure with it out of Sitka. If I could back up to my retirement day I would have moved to Sitka. What a beautiful place and all of that water and fishing year around. My CD sets on the trailer for 7 mmths each year. Welcome to the C-Brats

    Honda BF90 Tachometer Readings

My 90hp Honda did that same thing 10 yrs ago. A tap on the glass would "settle it down" for awhile then do it again. Dr. Bob's solution worked for me and is still working 10yrs later. Now my 200hp Honda is doing the same thing. I am at the glass taping stage with it and so far so good. Will do...

    protect hull from anchor chain

I put a piece of 1/4" rubber sheeting on the bow deck. It is cut to "lock on" to the cleat base and anchor roller base so it stays in place just fine. It also protects the deck well. $5 at the rubber supply store.

    KEEP BUMPING HEAD

I had my 22' CD for 26 years and was still hitting my head the last year with it. SLOW LEARNER.

    KEEP BUMPING HEAD

I split a length of plastic tubing and fastened it to the door frame with 4200 after pushing it up onto the frame edge. Works good so far. My old bald head just could not take it anymore.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Went out halibut fishing today with just my wife. No company, or friends or acquaintances etc. Just her & I. Great day, warm, sunny, no wind and damn the luck only 3 halibut. But.....if you go fishing for the catching only you went for the wrong reason. The C-Dory has been "ginning along"...

    Who built it?

Pat, Good job in laying the whole tumulus journey of C-Dory out for newer owners to understand. I purchased my 1st CD in July 1983, a 22' Classic. I towed it back to Alaska w/o an engine. It cost $11,000 for the boat and trailer with and OB bracket but no engines. I wrote him a check and he said...

    Pro Angler 26 restoration advice

Just FYI.......I have a 26' ProAngler, 2005 with a bracket and 200hp Honda. If I can be of any help, like pictures or measurements, feel free to ask. As already suggested I would try to use your present I/O if it is serviceable w/o a lot of $$$ investment. Otherwise my set-up works excellent...

    Shipping to Alaska

Yes it is me. Made my last delivery late April in Wasilla of a 25' Cruiser for a $2100 donation for fuel. I have driven the Alaska Hyw. 79 times w/o any problems. Towed up six C-Dories and an aluminum 26'. I believe my Ak. Hyw. runs are over as my 1st mate is getting tired of the trip. We are...

    Pettit bottom paint

I am using Pettit Unepoxy Anti-fouling 1224 Blue Pacific Formula. I am running out of it and can only find 1228 Blue. Is the 1228 the same color as 1224..??? I am only using it for color as my boat lives on a trailer. Does anyone know where I can get a quart of 1224 or someones left over...

    Repowering a 22 classic

This boat/motor used to be mine. I damaged the lower unit while going onto my trailer in a pounding surf. THe trailer was put in too far and I had to slam it into reverse to keep from hitting the trailer winch post really hard. THe lower unit "grenaded" the next day after about 20 miles. The...

    Trim tab size for 26-footer

Rod, I would not change my tabs but you may be planning on a much bigger load than mine. My boat is pretty much empty as we only day trip in it. Mama likes her own bed at night after a hard day fishing. I carry only 75 gals of fuel, no water in the tank and just basic fishing and safety...

    Trim tab size for 26-footer

Ak Angler..... On my 26' ProAngler C-Dory (14 degr. deadrise) I have 18"x8" Insta-Trim tabs. I just put on my slippers, set down my adult beverage and went outside and measured my tabs just for you. THey work just fine IMHO. Boat is very responsive to them. I am sure they were on it when the...
