    Anchor Rode Jumps off Gypsy

UPDATE to the Lewmar Pro Fish 700 WINDLASS MODS: After several weeks of using the windlass with the two lexan guides installed, I can report that, thus far, the rope has not jumped off of the gypsy on either the launch or the retrieve. This has made anchoring a lot more enjoyable. Here is the...

    Changing a trailer tire.

Holy Moly, We had a sidewall rupture this weekend on the starboard / forward trailer tire and it was a bear to remove. fortunately we were in a parking lot when we discovered it and not on the shoulderless road that we often travel enroute to the launch ramp. BTW- I had previosly removed the aft...

For Gearheaded Brats - I am always looking for ways to minimize the number and weight of the tools that I carry on C Eagle. I recently replaced a set of SAE and Metric box end wrenches with only 4 total wrenches made by Gear Wrench. This model is called Quad because each end wrench has 4...

Need Tennessee River Info for july trip.

Larry and Jo, We were at the Goosepond Marina on Saturday, July 5th when you went by. A friend spotted Thelma Lou and called me by cell to tell me that he saw a C Dory heading down river near Goosepond Marina MM 378 RDB at around 2:30 pm. I tried to call you on CH 16 but you were out of range...

    Mircrobursts can be deadly

Hello Brats, While attending an airshow at the Huntsville International Airport yesterday a summer thunderstorm came up suddenly and caused 12 injuries, 1 fatality. At 2pm we were positioned just north of the airport to get some shots of vintage aircraft and the Blue Angels when a cloud front...

    Anchor Rode Jumps off Gypsy

Ed, After I changed to 8 plait and tightened the loose finger, I still saw the rope jump off occasionally only during retrieval. By walking the rope back and forth through the gypsy, I determined that this problem seemed to be caused by the shallow rope locker depth. The shallow locker causes...

  11. Guide for the port side rides on stripper finger. The photo shows a V arrangement with two guides but the left side of the V has been removed since this photo was taken. The combination of the fixed guide on the starboard side and the floating guide on the port side seems to work well.

    Wallas on the fritz

Hello JennyKatz, I installed the single burner Wallas (Safeflame Model 800 mini cooker) on our CD 22 shortly after we got it (Jan. 2006) and it has, for far, run flawlessly and it gets used A LOT! When the Wallas operates correctly, it is a very simple beast. Some guidelines that we follow...

    Teak Trim

Jim and Sandy, Great to hear from you and hope that you are enjoying your CD. We were out 4 days on ours last week and had the Tennessee River to ourselves for the most part. We like to explore remote places like the Flint and Paint Rock rivers that are inaccessible to most cruisers. We hope...

    Teak Trim

Finally got around to adding teak trim to the cabinet doors cut into my CD 22 commuter many moons ago. The new trim makes the original stuff look bad, so I will need to refinish it. Hmmmmm....... Will I ever learn to leave well enough alone?
