WOW!!

I put small stripes of black tape on each of the tanks as 5-gallon markers. So I can easily see how much gas I have remaining in each tank, but also judge--quite accurately--how much gas to put into each tank.

The accent stripes (dark green: on hull sides and around cabin top) on my CD have streaks and faded spots. I can't seem to get them out. It seems that they are not simply surface oxidation, but embedded in the fiberglass. Any suggestions? Any products to recommend? (THANKS!)

What "carb cleaner" did you use/do you recommend? Is there a difference between the carb cleaner you would use in an auto, and what should be used in an OB motor?

We live in the area, and frequent the Erie Canal. We keep our boat at our cottage on L. Ontario (which we also frequent), near Barker, NY. The best launch in this area is Widewaters Marina in Lockport. Double ramp; free launch and parking; lots of berths and parking (unsecured).

It's (a lot) easier when it is hot, than when it is cold. The first time is always the hardest...getting the material stretched. After it has been stretched a few times, it gets easier.

I have never seen a dinghy on the Canal. We have enjoyed having our folding bicycles along.

As a "local yokel," I can recommend Seneca Lake SP. It has an entry gate, and is patrolled. There is a marina at the Park, so there are boaters in residence...and typically a number of trucks and trailers parked.
