    Fenders and how many?

To your first question: YES. Mine are the 8" X 25": seem plenty large enough for the CD-22. Can be slung horizontally, using the hole-in-the-middle OR hung vertically.

    Fenders and how many?

I also have two large HTM fenders, and I can confirm what Fred and Pat have said, they work well for canalling.

    Fenders and how many?

I regularly (always) use two large round fenders when launching and retrieving the boat: one is hung on the cleat outside the helm window (or the opposite window, but I prefer the helm side as it is more convenient when single-handling); the other I hang near the rear of the boat. I have...

    Winter boat usage....

My boating in western NY is circumscribed by winter conditions. The Erie Canal is drained ca. 10/15 to 4/15, and the L. Ontario shoreline is usually encased in ice mid-December to mid-March (it varies). I keep the boat out of storage and available into November and pull it out again as soon as...

All time Best Modification on your CD22

Two inexpensive "modifications" I use--and take for granted--every time I use the boat are both pictured in my sub-album "Other Projects": 1. A folding plastic step stool used to extend the step molded into the side of the cockpit; 2. An added cleat on each side of the cockpit mid-ships.

All time Best Modification on your CD22

My best modification has proved to be the "dinette to sofa" conversion. See photos in my sub-album and description in thread(s) on this topic.

    08/22 - 08/28 - Rideau Canal Cruise

Dear Friends: Like Fred, I have been enjoying your cruise vicariously. Thanks for your individual posts, Rick's review, and the album of photos. The Rideau is on my "must do" list. Darlene and I will be retiring in June 2008. So hopefully, next year... To date, we have logged 500+ miles on...

    New CD22 sink istallation

I think the decision(s) you have articulated depend on your expected use of the boat. My boat has the standard/factory setup. I am pleased with it. My use of the sink and water tank is very similar to Roger's on SeaDNA. I refill 16 oz. store-bought Aqua bottles with home-filtered water for...

    Portable Air Conditioner

I recently saw (in one of my boating magazines) advertisement for an AC conversion hood. Retailing for $349.95 and currently on sale for $299.95, the description reads: "a boat hatch cover used on most deck hatch openings, which stores window air conditioners for non-stop cooling on board."...

    Cheap Gas Gauge

Reply to Harvey: I had to remove and empty my gas tanks last summer. Yes, the walls are perpendicular. The top, however, slants towards the back of the transom. Having filled the tanks from completely empty to completely full took exactly 22 gallons last summer. The measurement method I...

    Cheap Gas Gauge

This one is free! Before flling up with gas, I put a pencil line at the gas line on one of the plastic see-through gas tanks. Then I put in exactly five gallons of gas and stopped pumping, climbed into the boat and and put another pencil mark at the top of the gas line. When I got home, I...

    Step Extension

We want all CD-22 C-brats to know... Our use of the folding stool (see sub-album Various Ideas for photos) to extend the molded step for safe entry and exit... ...is the best idea since sliced bread!! It really makes a difference! It really works! (And it is very cheap: about $10.)

    Portable Air Conditioner

Mike's pics are helpful. Note my earlier comments about the use of thin insulation (backed on both sides with aluminum foil) to close off the "gap" around the AC unit. Wayne
