    Charging system problem

I would be most grateful if you could report back on your findings vis-a-vis this part on the F80 for future reference. I will be glad to. I am just about to start shopping online and by phone for the part.

    Charging system problem

Thanks for the additional info and advice. I have just come in from temp hookup of motorscooter R/R to Yahama. As I expected, the charge voltage went up from 13.5v engine off to 15v engine running (this old R/R puts out too much voltage, the reason I replaced it: afraid of blowing head light...

    Charging system problem

At any rate, the reason I mention it is that when he went to replace it (if indeed we are talking about the same part - which, if I remember correctly he told me was low down on the front of the motor head), he found that there was a re-designed, more robust part, which is what he put back in...

    Charging system problem

Monday my wife and I took our newly purchased C-D on a 2 day, overnight cruise through several of the chain of lakes in central Fla. We had taken the boat out once before a few days earlier for a 45nm ride on the St Johns River. We had never hooked a battery charger to either battery since...

    T/T motor access

I solved my own question. I used the safety latch to hold the motor in the raised position, removed the lower rod which supports the hydraulic system, then rotated everything up to access all sides of the T/t motor.

    T/T motor access

The T/T motor is attached with 3 phillip-head screws. It is not possible to access 2 of these screws and apply enough down force and twisting motion to turn the screws. In fact, I had to grip the one screw that is accessable with vice grips to get it loosened. This is on a 1999 80hp Yamaha. I...

    Permatrim

I have made only one test run of 40 mi in my newly acquired 22 CD cruiser with an 80hp 4-stroke Yahama engine. It was done starting with about 30 gal fuel, full water, 2 POB weighing total of 300lb, no supplies of any kind. We had some no wake zones to start and end the run, smooth to light...

    144MHz FM Transciver

If you'd like to donate it to the cause, I would clean it up and fix it up and go through it and donate it to a newly licensed teen in our radio club who is too poor to buy a radio. I will cover shipping costs. I'll be more than happy to do that. e-mail me the shipping address and the best...

Zinc paint ok on Yahama lower unit part??

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I will look for either the zinc chromate or Rust Bar and then coat with lanolin grease.

    144MHz FM Transciver

Whatever you do, don't transmit on it. Big fines associated with its use by unlicensed folks. I was afraid this was my answer. I never tried to use it and suspected it had something to do with a ham radio. I have removed it, and since it had been left by a previous owner, I doubt if it has any...

    144MHz FM Transciver

A previous owner had installed a Kenwood TM-241A/241E 144MHz transciever on my recently purchased 22 CD cruiser. What is this radio used for? The manual describes how to use it but says nothing about who I would talk to or why. I have removed it as part of my cleaning up the rats nest of wiring...

Zinc paint ok on Yahama lower unit part??

My recently purchased 1999 22 CD cruiser has a 1999 80hp Yahama engine. The motor for the trim/tilt hydraulic pump had began to rust and a previous owner sprayed the steel motor with a grey paint, which seems to have made a bad situation worse. The added paint trapped water under the paint...

    AM/FM antena

Yesterday as I was installing my newer VHF radio from my poontoon boat into my C-Dory I was surprised by wiring that seems to have been done by a previous owner. On top of the overhead shelf was mounted the old VHF that I was replacing, a commercial vehicle-to-office transmitter which I removed...

    New member now new owner

I checked rotors this morning. They are rusty as the day I first hooked up. I checked fluid in master cylinder; empty. Thanks for the heads-up. Now I am headed out to fill master cylinder and try to bleed the lines.

My first post, a few days ago, was concerning trim tabs and my interest in a 22ft cruiser. Yesterday we closed the deal and arrived home just before dark with our boat. So the listing that has been at Riverview Marina in Homosassa, FL ($28,500 asking price) has been sold. We feel we settled on a...

New Member question concerning trim tabs

I want to thank each of you for your answers to my questions. I thought it might take waiting quiet a while for any response, but I did not need to wait long for exactly the info I was interest in. Bennett trim tabs has a good presentation on the internet, which sold me on their brand, but they...

New Member question concerning trim tabs

I plan to purchase a 1999 C-Dory 22ft with a 1999 80hp, 4-stroke Yahama engine. I tested the boat yesterday and came away with 2 concerns: 1) The boat squats badly at the stern and the bow rides high at mid range speeds. Would trim tabs improve this condition on this boat? I saw a picture on...
