    Prop for new Suzuki 90

I’m just back from the wonderful gathering at Friday Harbor. What a fine community, and grateful for being a part of it. I noticed that many of us have Suzuki 90s on vintage 22 footers. I should’ve raised the question of props. When I hung the new motor, the prop is a 3x14x17, aluminum. I think...

What prop for new Suzuki 90hp CD22?

Can someone tell me what prop has worked properly for you for a Suzuki 90, for light to mid load on a 22? Mine is 2003.

Port Townsend - Rat Island Regatta. Who can come?

Can I get a count for who can come and do safety boat work for the Rat Island Regatta on June 29? It is a fun event, providing safety boats for the regatta, which includes rowers, kayakers, paddle boarders, canoers. Additionally, it is a mini-gathering of our own. Pretty sure Harvey...

New safety boat opportunity, August 24

Who's up for some more safety boat outings? Here in Port Townsend, we will have our annual Rat Island Regatta on June 29, and then on August 24, there is the Cross Sound Race, from Seattle to Bainbridge Island. As we've shown in the past, the C Dory contingent can provide a top quality safety...

    New wind prediction site

Today I learned of http://forecast.predictwind.com which will give you wind speed and direction predicitions. Haven't had much chance to try it out. Dave

06/25 - Port Townsend Safety Boats

Steve Chapin, organizer of the rowing race we did safety boat work for last year, asked if we would like to do safety boat service for the annual Rat Island Race of the rowing club. That was the one we did on on Saturday last year, the one we cut our teeth on. Is there interest in doing this...

    What's with the Honda tach?

My Honda tachometer has gone erratic. Sometimes it might read 5 or 6,000 when the engine is doing 4,000rpm. I find that if I tap the meter it might settle down (or it might go up to 7,000), so I tend to think it is in the meter itself. Is this something others have seen? Hate to think it...

    Safety boat opportunity

I know this is short notice, but I received this just now. It is a 15 mile rowing race out of Anacortes. I bet they'd be enormously pleased to have C Dory safety boat. Can't do it myself because of Wooden Boat Festival. Dave I received this from one of the Open Water Racers who was here in...

    Till now, lucky with Wallas...

Or so I thought. Last time I was out, I had the Wallas running at the dock, then started the engine. Never did it that way before. Might have put me under the 11 volts Wallas wants. Anyway, the red light at the switch went out, and I had a cloud of diesel exhaust in the cabin. I never was...

    06/18 - 06/19 - Port Townsend Safety Launch

I am a member of the rowing club in Port Townsend. At the annual meeting last night there was a presentation about a major race that will happen here next summer: the National Open Water Rowing Championship, June 19. On June 18 (Sat) is the annual Rat Island Rowing Regatta (a regional race)...

    How to support radar?

I bought a Garmin 18HT and would like to hear what the best choices are for mounting it on a 22 Cruiser. Unless someone has a great buy on a used arch, I think I just want to put it above the front of the cabin. What to do? Also, what is desireable angle from the cabin top? Dave

Spark plugs for fuel injected Honda 90

It's quite a shock to find that plugs for the new Honda 90's are in the range of $20 each, times four. The plugs, IZFR6K 11E, are a Honda specific plug, and priced accordingly. The IZFR6K 11 plug costs 12.00, retail. I contacted NGK with the question, "What is the difference?" This is the...

    Victoria in winter

I almost posted this under the "Moves you don't want to make..." thread, which is progressing interestingly. I liked TR's statement: "One thing for sure, I have quit going out in conditions that are marginal. It is too stressful, potentially dangerous, and just not worth it. I have turned into a...

    Inflatable on roof

I'm reminded of this seeing Dog On Dog with inflatable on roof. I carry mine the same way, and have wondered from time to time if there is some risk in it. If there is heavy rain and/or spray, you could accumulate some water in the dinghy, and I imagine quickly become top heavy. A boat load...

My neighbors' 1988 22 Angler, price cut...

My neighbors have had this 1988 22 Angler for a couple of years, but have not been able to use it as much as they hoped. It was listed here (http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=9598 ), but they have cut the price to $15,000 firm since then. For someone wanting to get into a C Dory with not...

    Garelick motor mount for kicker

I seem to remember that Garelick has been a preferred brand for kicker mount. I see a used one for sale, the "up to 20HP" model. Is this a good choice for a 22 Cruiser? Dave

    Routine electrical maintenance

I would like to know what the more knowledgeable do for routine electrical maintenance. I notice in particular that when I return from a trip, there is plenty of moisture in the starboard aft battery box. I understand the concept of polishing battery terminals, but what can you do for...

    12 volt monitor

I have considered several ways of keeping an eye on battery levels. I saw what might be the best bet for me yesterday. WalMart has a "Battery Monitor" in automotive, "Innova #3721". It just plugs into the cigarette lighter and gives you a voltage readout. $15. Haven't tried it on the boat -...

Wallas Fix #2, and things I learned about Wallas

Very interesting to see the topic of "Wallas Fix", because I had just the same problem and fix this last week. It had been confused by the fact that I had run out of fuel and thought my failure to restart when refueled was due to something else. I am not far from ScanMarine, and I took it to...
