I want to thank everyone for your kind messages and condolences. I sold the boat Monday (10/4/2010) to a very nice couple from Illinois. I hope they join the website, as they will be a great addition. It has been a delight being part of this owners group. I will keep these fond memories...

    Inflatables on Roof

Thanks to all for their input. It appears the Garhauer solution is the way we will procede. Current price is $321, cost effective. Dick

    Inflatables on Roof

We have a 63 lb Zodiac that we roof mount on our 25. At age 64, we are finding it more difficult to wrestle the inflatable to the roof. Any secrets out there, any hardware being used to accomplish the task?

    Engine Overheating

We had the same issue with our 135 Honda last summer. Rather frightening when running 3-4 footers in the Baltimore shipping channels. Shut the engine off, raised it, and saw a plastic bag come off the lower unit.

    Florda Cruising Guides

We would be looking at a few months in FL, broken up by a few trips home. We keep our 25 on the Chesapeake, so the ICW would be our wet option.

    Florda Cruising Guides

We are thinking about taking our 25 to Florida next winter. Our cruising has been limited to the Great Lakes and Chesapeake Bay. We would be Florida newbies. Our intent is to explore the Keys and some of SW Florida, and would like to spend a lot of time on the hook. Chesapeake anchorages are...

    Locking Through Canals ... Solo

The Welland Canal between Lakes Huron and Erie requires three persons on board for upbound, 2 persons for downbound.

    Removing Water Heater

We have a 25', and are thinking about removing the water heater. Most of our time is spent at anchor, so the heater is using a lot of storage space for no purpose. We find a 1 gallon garden sprayer to be just as effective as the built-in shower and uses less water. The heater is a Seaward S700...

Crossing the border and money exchange

Its been our experience that Canadian merchants in Eastern Canada are always willing to accept US currency, but American merchants refuse to take Canadian $ (except Starbucks). Seems the Canadians value tourist dollars more than Americans.

    06/05 - 06/07 - Chesapeake Bay Gathering

We just returned from a week on the Bay, and while we have anchored on Langford Creek several times, we had never stayed at the Marina until this trip. For those unfamiliar with Lankford Bay Marina, we can say that we were very impressed with the facility and the staff. The facililities are...

    Album Update

A week or two ago, someone updated their photos with some pictures of some real nice cabinet work in a 25. They raised the pilot seat with casework and a drawer. They also raised the rear portside shelf with casework and a drawer. I recall they also modified the hanging locker. Can anyone tell...

    Boat Covers

Has anyone found an "Off-The-Shelf" storage cover that provides a reasonable fit for a 25" C-Dory (on trailer). I am weary of paying for shrink wrap each year.

    Lake Erie Brats??

There are still 240 sq miles of ice on the lake. Commercial shipping season has started. The English River is stalled between Pt Abino, ON and Buffalo. USCG Neah Bay being sent to assist. Its much nicer in the summer.

    Lake Erie Brats??

We have had our 25 in Buffalo for three years. As mentioned by others, the lake can throw some steep and nasty stuff at you. But there are other times when its glass smooth. If you choose a Lake Erie cruise, take your fishing gear. There are not many destinations on the east end of the lake...

    09/09 - 09/16 - Erie Canal Cruise

I would highly recommend the Thousand Islands area. The Canadian side seems to be better developed for boaters. Kingston, Gananoque, Brockville, Prescott have great marinas, though gas is expensive. Kingston is worth at least two days. On the American side, the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

We pulled the shrinkwrap off the boat. Put the charger on the batteries and cleaned up some of the winter's dust. The "Season" doesn't officially begin until May 1 (ramps are closed, no gas), but we have a full tank and are ready for some quality float time. We're looking for someplace to put it...
