    Prop for new Suzuki 90

My 3x14x17 gets up to 5800, so I’m okay with it. What I’m asking is to see what props others are using with this engine on traditional vintage 22’s. If the Friday harbor gathering was a representative sampling, it appears that the engine of choice to replace original engines is the Suzuki 90...

    Prop for new Suzuki 90

I’m just back from the wonderful gathering at Friday Harbor. What a fine community, and grateful for being a part of it. I noticed that many of us have Suzuki 90s on vintage 22 footers. I should’ve raised the question of props. When I hung the new motor, the prop is a 3x14x17, aluminum. I think...

    Tenders (Dingys)

Ocean liners and Navy ships carry lifeboats. They don’t expect to sink. Why is a C Dory different? With my first 22 I started with a small Avon type inflatable, with a 2hp Honda. I sold the Honda first. It was way too inconvenient. I anchor close to shore, and did not have the need for an...

What prop for new Suzuki 90hp CD22?

Thanks for the generous replies. I am afraid I misled you. The boat is 2003, and the engine would be 2023 or 2024. So it is the new model of the DF 90. Does someone have one of those who can guide me in prop choice? The older motors may not be a good comparison. Dave

Can someone tell me what prop has worked properly for you for a Suzuki 90, for light to mid load on a 22? Mine is 2003.

    22 Cruiser on ebay

Thanks. This is indeed a great place to own a boat. I look forward to crossings to Victoria. Somehow it was always nicest going on your own boat. I’ll leave this one in Florida until the early spring and then do some cruising on the northern gulf coast. The boat will get some use.

    22 Cruiser on ebay

I bought it - Susie Q. I had a new CD22 in 2003, sold in 2013 or 2014, and have regretted that. I’ve had a few boats since, and nothing worked so well. Now I’m back to a 2003! The engine is 2015 I believe. It seems to be a nice boat. Seller neglected to mention it has a Garmin autopilot - nice...

I hate foot ball and the sea hawks.

I read the thread on cats next. Just odd coincidence I used a cat analogy, not even knowing you are an authority on them, Tom.

I hate foot ball and the sea hawks.

Haven't read CBrats for a while, and first thing I look at this. Brilliant, Tom, you threw a cat into a hornets nest, and nobody got stung too badly! Credit to this community, that when one of us short circuits, it reminds him to take his meds...err, go fishing. I'm outside SeaHawks...

Port Townsend - Rat Island Regatta. Who can come?

Can I get a count for who can come and do safety boat work for the Rat Island Regatta on June 29? It is a fun event, providing safety boats for the regatta, which includes rowers, kayakers, paddle boarders, canoers. Additionally, it is a mini-gathering of our own. Pretty sure Harvey...

GPS error grounds US Navy minesweeper

I see the note about the Navy missing something with this boat no longer in service. This reminds me of what happened with mines in the Gulf War.. Minesweepers of other navies had some success in locating mines. There was only one occasion, by my memory, that a US ship found a mine, and it...

New safety boat opportunity, August 24

I should say at this point, that I may be rowing in one or both of these races. If not, I will be doing safety boat.

New safety boat opportunity, August 24

Yes, safety boats are needed both both races. It doesn't have to be the same people. You can do just one or both. The Cross Sound Race is just me way. My understanding is that it will be from Seattle to Bainbridge. For those who have not done this before, it is a good chance to do...

New safety boat opportunity, August 24

Hey, we're off to a good start! Hi Tom. I can't speak for the Bainbridge area, but for Port Townsend, we found it easy to spend the night in Nordland harbor at the State Park on Marrowstone Island the night before. Dave

New safety boat opportunity, August 24

Who's up for some more safety boat outings? Here in Port Townsend, we will have our annual Rat Island Regatta on June 29, and then on August 24, there is the Cross Sound Race, from Seattle to Bainbridge Island. As we've shown in the past, the C Dory contingent can provide a top quality safety...

Compass Question No. 2 -- Best type of compass for a C Dory?

I got tired of giving up dashboard real estate to a Ritchie compass that I didn't use. I pulled it out and bought a Suunto hand held sighting compass. It is very small, high quality, portable. More than compass, it gives you accurate directional readings. I use it only a small amount more...

    Another Magazine bites the dust

I second the message that Small Craft Advisor is alive and well, and comes from right here in Port Townsend. The magazine has continued to be successful. Their newest venture has been to commission a design for a 12 foot sailboat that you can cruise on. Go to http://smallcraftadvisor.com/ and...
