Cabin Ventilation on a 16 Cruiser

I did away with the installed GPS and am going with a hand held since most of my time is intracoastal waters. Replaced the Standard Horizon with a Garmin 545. Treated myself (something I have absolutely no trouble doing) to a new SS claw anchor for our muddy bottoms. Also redid the deck. Next...

Cabin Ventilation on a 16 Cruiser

C-16 in muggy SW FL needed more ventilation so I installed a Bomar 9/1/2 inch hatch in cabin top. Even at slow speeds a refreshing breeze at helm. A fun and easy project...measure twice cut once.[/img]

    Ballast on a C-16 cruiser

"I'm planning to call Nauticus today." I just spoke with Nauticus up in Ohio. The tech said that the self actuators should work to solve my problem. They have five stiffness settings and can be independently adjusted to account for the added weight on the starboard side. So I'm going to give...

    Ballast on a C-16 cruiser

"Those two batteries mounted in the starboard stern quarter have me concerned. Usually, CD 16's have their batteries mounted in the center stern area with 6.5 gallon fuel tanks on either side. The CD 16 is very sensitive to excess weight in the stern." Rich: I am in total agreement about...

    Ballast on a C-16 cruiser

Appreciate your advice. I saw some Bennett self actuating tabs on the net and would consider them to avoid wiring and switches. Do you have experience with this type?

    Ballast on a C-16 cruiser

You are a right, I have pondered diet but nahhhhhhh. Swim platform on port stern precludes kicker placement there. Plus it provides water entry for swimming exercise. Like the battery relocation suggestion but a lot of wiring rerouting. Let's see what did I forget? Oh companion...got one hates...

    Ballast on a C-16 cruiser

Almost all my time aboard C-Buoy is solo. My ample presence starboard cause the boat to list so I've taken to one cheek on each seat piloting. Since that is both uncomfortable and unsafe I need another solution. The setup is an installed 13 gallon fuel tank center/port at the stern and 2...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

With the muggies and high temps now a daily reality in SW Florida, I needed to get more air into the cabin than the two sliders allow. So I chose a 9 1/2" Bomar which allows ample air into the helm station. Easy installation and looks good too.

Cabin Ventilation on a 16 Cruiser

C-Buoy is recommissioned and ready to cruise the waters of SW Florida. The problem is the humid/hot weather and lack of air (other than sides) at slow speeds. (Do a lot of back river exploring at slow speeds) Has anyone put an extra hatch topside to get some air to the helm underway? Or even...

Enlarging "chain locker" on a CD 16 Cruiser

Now we know your 1999 doesn't have a locker and the 2008 (9) don't, I'm forced to think that maybe my tiny cubicle was the creation of a P.O. If so I'm glad he (she) did it and now I was able to improve it. Thanks for all your helpful comments. Sail (motor) on.
