I saw this 12 V "Stove To Go" on Alton Brown's "Feasting on Asphalt" show. It looks like a simple way to bake a meatloaf or cook a stew while I'm fishing. 190W startup, 100W while cooking, temp of about 250-300 degrees, simple disposable aluminum pan liners (they look like a bread pan). I'm going to order one for the boat. (BTW - the link I provided above is not necessarily the cheapest source - just the source with the most info on the unit.)

WOW... that looks neat... Just toss some BBQ or other items in there that have been pre-cooked and need a nice slow re-heat and GO...or keep going as it may be here. I like this.

A couple of thoughts:

1. Most oven cooking is done at 350, and this unit only gets up to 300 max (the way they qualify the performance I expect that it is more like 250 -- that's slow clooker territory.

2. Stop at a large Interstate truck stop and you will see many more devices of this ilk for sale.

It looks like they have all kinds of interesting gadgets for sale. Let us know how the Stove to Go works out.

The slow cooker part doesn't bother me - I've been looking at small slow cookers for the boat anyway. The idea of having a nice stew ready after 4-6 hours of fishing appeals to me. Slow boat, slow cooker, slow guy - seems like they all match.

I've seen other devices of this ilk. I just like the disposable pan aspect of this one. The less clean up the better.

Um, excuse me Dr. Roger, but aren't you more of a Bunsen burner type?

I had a powered tool box at work for a while, and I just had to have one of them 12v coffee makers. A full cup and a half of a coffee-like substance in only 45 minutes.

The oven device may warm something after awhile we had one and got rid of it. A microwave would be more useful.

The lunch box device I have heard may be good. I would double check to make sure.

So what do you cook in this gizmo? Must not take too long as I would guess your battery (not being charged but topped off to begin with) would have about 5-6 hours (8.3 amp draw). So maybe not a turkey but instead a cookie?
