16' Measurements

I've struggled with the search function a bit, guessing someone has this at their fingertips. Looking for the inside floor (across or side to side) measurement as well as floor to top of the gunnel on a 16'. Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to C Dory world. I've had a 16 Cruiser for 3 years now and I can remember trying to learn about the boat interior before purchace. I am confident telling you, you need to get in one its the only way. Because it looks like a cruiser your mind will play tricks on you as to what you desire. It is a one person cruising boat for more than one night. If you are in love with your over night guest everything will be fine, if you are not in love you'll need to be best buddies. The problem with the 16's size is you never leave sight of each other and if things get weird wich they do in a tight boat environ you or your guest have no where to go pout. Solo its pure utopia for me I think my boat is a back pack with a 50hp engine. If you want more than solo go with a 22. I really know the 16 looks like more but it's not.

Thanks for the input. Yes I do plan on stepping aboard one but before I hunt one down I would like these dimensions as I am trying to compare the dance floor and gunnel height to my 18 x 54 sled as a comparison to see if I'm even in the ballpark of comfort. The C Dory web site is pretty poor amd appears as though they haven't updated it since Al Gore first invented the Internet..........it lists beam but guessing that's gunnel to gunnel, it doesn't list gunnel height.
I also requested literature from the factory. That came in the mail yesterday in the form of an outdated brochure that actually had less information than the web site.

Appreciate the info in advance.

I'm not at my boat now but can measure it tonight if you don't have an answer from someone else by then. The floor width is in the neighborhood of 4', although the gunnels flare out quite a bit since it's a dory, giving the beam spec you read on the website.

What I wanted to comment about are your observations about the manufacturer website and the print literature - I couldn't agree more and at the Factory Tour last month several people made that message loud and clear to them. But, don't hold your breath for updates anytime soon! The C-Brats is their strongest marketing tool, and costs them nothing, so you've come to the right place for the information you are seeking!

I'll thank you in advance and look for your response on my return Mike. I'll be out of range of connectivity on the Rogue river in a drift boat for 3 days. No phone, no internet, no problems.....

Alright, here's the measurements on the Angler. Since boats are curved, I took measurements at 2 different points:

Just in front of the splashwell:
Width of the floor - 58"
Height of the gunnel - 27"

Rear edge of cabin roof:
Width of the floor - 56"
Height of the gunnel - 25.5"

One note to keep in mind - my 1990 angler is completely open at the floor, the foam floatation is only enclosed inside the top half of the sides. On the Cruiser (and perhaps newer Anglers?) the foam floatation chamber goes straight down to the floor, which may give a slightly narrower floor width measurement. All the 16's from about 1986(?) on have super-side gunnels, which most people like, both for stepping on, sitting on, and giving a sense of security when in the boat.

Here's a couple of photos for comparison of the floor between Angler and Cruiser:
