I entered the world of the C Dory on July 12 purchasing a 2000 22 feet Cruiser. The original owner maintained this boat impeccably with only 141 hours. I have been boating for over 30 years and have owned numerous boats. I was also employed by the Fire Island National Seashore as a boat operator performing search and rescues, patrol, etc. I just wanted to post that I think that this is a great boat. I am extremely happy with it and I am hoping this will be the last boat I ever own. In addition the C-Brats is a very informative website and I am glad I found it. Keep up the good work and Boat Safely!!!!

Welcome to the group. I hope you enjoy your boat as much as the rest of us nut jobs do! Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Welcome to the C-Brats site. You will find more info on C-Dorys than you might want to know. There is no end to the help you can find here.

Congratulations on finding "the boat". I was lucky to find mine in 1983, still have it and still enjoy it. I have had to replace some things on it but the hull is untouched and in excellent condition.

Good luck with your boat :)

This is a pretty small world. I grew up in Bayport, NY on Great South Bay. I worked on the ferries to Fire Island, was the dockmaster at Sailors Haven and Watch Hill, two National Park Service marinas at Fire Island National Seashore and for several years in college in the early 1970s was a summer seasonal Park Ranger General (law enforcement) patrolling the East District from Watch Hill in a boat doing exactly what you did. Small world indeed.

Now, we are in the midst of downsizing and are headed to a CD22 and one of the first longer trips we want to do with it is to circumnavigagte Long Island stopping in Sailors Haven, Watch Hill and Old Inlet in the National Seashore
