Is the HOnda 2004 90hp fuel injected?

Carbureted,

In 2006, they started offering the FI feature.

We currently have a 2003 75 which is nearly the same motor (also carbureted of course). Aside from a multi-step cold start routine, I have never had trouble with the carbs on our motors. We also owned 2 90hp 2005 motors in the past.

The Fuel injection 90 did not come along until very late 2006 or early 2007. I have a late 2006, and it is Carbureted. The other feature which came with the injected engines is the larger alternator of 44 amps, vs the carb of 17 amps.

I drain my engines, and squirt in a little carb cleaner, then drain again, if I am not going to be using it for more 2 months. I try and always use non ethanol fuel (not always practical) Put in Stabil, and Startron.

If it is ethanol gas, I pull it out thru my "polishing system" and run it in the truck.

Here is part of one of the very early reviews of the "new 90".

new 1496cc powerhead, a four-cylinder, single overhead-cam design with about 100cc less displacement than the previous BF90. Dry weight is down by 14 pounds, Also the BLAST (boosted Low Speed Torque) and VTEC(Variable valve timing) were introduced at this time. The early injected 75's did not have VTEC.

If those pics of Sally's Sister in your album are of the motor in question, I can tell its carbureted from the pics.

I have a 2004 Honda 90 and it is carbureted. The only problem I have experienced, was due to a tank of bad fuel at the beginning of the season. I suspect the fuel had sat in the marina's tank for several months before I filled up.
