2025 Delta and Bay Extravaganza – 21st Annual Event – Save the Date!

Let me start by thanking Jim Gibson for spearheading 20 years of the fabulous Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza! Jim and his beautiful First Mate Kathy have turned over the coordination of this year’s event to myself and my wife, Laurie. We have participated in the last 12 of these annual adventures and have made many lifelong friends. We hope to have some repeat boats and as well as several new boats and crew on the 2025 journey. For those have not experienced this voyage, it is a must do for anyone who enjoys great company, excellent boats and some of the very best boating in North America.

For 2025 we have extended the trip to 6 nights/7 days. The trip will start on Sunday, May 4, and end on Saturday, May 10. We will launch from Rio Vista at the Delta Marina Yacht Harbor at noon. Tow vehicle and trailer storage is available either on the property or a short distance away. We will spend two nights at Black Mallard Duck Club, habitat for tens of thousands of ducks and other birds located on Wheeler Island near Honker Bay. John and Robbin Eudy will be hosting our stay on the island. Our next overnight stop will be Sausalito at the Schoonmaker Point Marina. From Sausalito, we will pass in front of the Golden Gate Bridge to South Beach Harbor in San Francisco for a two night visit. We will depart from San Francisco Friday, May 9, and head to the Benicia Marina for our last overnight. Every one of these destinations are worth the voyage in their own right.

I hope some of you who have been considering this trip decide this is the year to attend! It is important to note that there is a strict limit of 10 boats due to safe berthing considerations at the duck club. Sign-up for this trip is first come first on the list, we will send more details and accept reservations sometime in January. We look forward to confirming many more details in the New Year.

How wonderful that John and Laurie have picked up the ball, and John and Robbin have again hosted the gang at Wheeler Island. We have only been on two of these cruises, but consider it to be a "must do" for any C Brat who can get to this area. It is one of the very best gatherings.

With a maximum of 10 participants, it won't likely be much of an impact. We have done both of these gatherings in the past, and while both are a fun experience, this one is a group cruise while FH is pretty much a gathering and kind of a "season opener" get-together for the Salish Sea folks.
 
Actually, this is kind of a bummer for me. I would love to do both the FH gathering and the Delta Cruise. At this time, I'm already in the planning stages for the PNW, and that will be my priority. Both cruising part of the Puget Sound area before the FH gathering, and then probably some other cruising in the San Juans, possibly up to Princess Louisa Inlet, after the FH gathering. Two years ago I was able to do both, but while both events were fairly close together, there was enough time to hightail it up to the PNW after the Delta event. As someone that does enjoy getting to as many C-Brat gatherings as possible, I'd ask that gathering hosts consider scheduling events that don't overlap. While the Delta Cruise is limited on numbers, it is a very enjoyable time for those that are able to sign up and make the cut. At the same time, the Friday Harbor gathering, along with the Hontoon gathering on the east coast in March, are the two largest events. The Friday Harbor gathering, is a chance to meet and mingle with many of the Brats in the PNW, and many others all along the west coast. I'm sure a lot of planning is involved with both events, and those hosting need to make arrangements and work within the schedules of the various marinas and associated clubs as well. IN my mind, and not fully aware of your west coast weather, a perfect schedule would be California in mid to late April or late May, and Washington in early May. :D In any case, I know the Delta Cruise offers a lot of great socializing with other C-Brats, and offers the opportunity to see some scenic areas. Hi Colby. The traditional start date for the C-Brats Friday Harbor Get-Together has always been the second Thursday of May through the following Sunday. Colleen and I do not make a formal announcement for this event until January each year. We like to wait for the Holiday Season to end before making the announcement. Last year at the FH event we announced to the group that we would again see each other "next year on the second Thursday of May." Things will not change for the Friday Harbor gathering in 2025 and so look for a formal announcement maybe tomorrow. Colleen and I have a confirmed date of May 8 to 11 with the Port of Friday Harbor and have the Auxiliary Coast Guard inspectors scheduled for Saturday, May 10 starting at 9 a.m. for those wishing to have a vessel safety inspection.
 
Wow... this would be awesome but not sure I have time to get some needed work done on the 22 in time to tow her down for this.

Gosh, A dream trip. I live in PA but for the last 25yrs I've had this area as sales territory and sold Tulips to almost all garden centers of the Bay, delta and Sac areas. I know most of the area's bridges and I know many of the Islands of the Delta. One of my buyers lived in Rio Vista. Good Place to park.
I could go on and say how much I like this area but it will bore everyone. I wish I could see the float planes of Sausalito from the water. During a strike My son was once in charge of mooring the oil tankers in either Martinez or Richmond. But then the Strike was settled and he never had the chance. Oh well.
Not many boats left in the "breakers yard" Suison Bay.
Wonderful place....maybe next year.

I cannot attend but am glad to see this happening. I live in Sacramento and may drive down to meet the crew in Rio Vista. I am also happy to offer any advice about local amenities. My wife and I lived on houseboats in the Isleton-Rio Vista area for two years and know the area well. Restaurants, groceries, museums etc. Just reach out.

I have always wanted to attend the annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza. Time wise, it just hasn't worked out for us with it being so close to the Friday Harbor event. I have great memories of living, fishing, and exploring the waters of the Delta and Bay Area.This event looks to be another great event of travel and exploration of the Bay Area waters and a good time of fellowship with other C-Brats. Gary
