Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if the 23 Venture is still being made?

If so, does anybodt have an estimate how much these would be.

Triton has the molds and I'm sure they would make one for you if you placed an order. The closest dealer to you is Y-Landing. Why not give them a call an inquire as to pricing? Contact info below.

Thanks Roger...I called the NH dealer and he was'nt sure if they made them. DO you have contact for them out there as it appears that the factory is in your neck of the woods.

As Marty posted, you can reach Triton at the above numbers. When you call, I would suggest you ask for Scott Boysen directly as he has been very much involved with the C-Brats and seems pretty responsive. You might also try contacting him via email - Scott Boysen <Scott@TritonMarine.us>.

I am under the impression that the Venture models (23 and 26) are still available, although Triton hasn't built one of either yet.

You will be in the upper $60K- low $70K range for a 23 Venture with motor and trailer. Last time I priced one it was about $10K more than a 22 Cruiser.

The Venture is the gussied up cape cruiser that was built from 06-07 I think 150 of them were built . Then C-dory took them over and started building them

We own the 06 cape cruiser no vinyl roof liner and no pull out drawers less storage space . we do have the electronics shelf above windshield also we have the fridge and fiberglass cabinetry . Its more like the 22 cruiser less fluff basic boat

The only downside to this boat has been you need a bigger tow vehicle and a 115 hp minimum because the venture /cape cruiser weighs 3000lb plus motor ,elec, and trailer brings it over 5000lb towed weight

YOU could look for a used 23 venture and save about 25k or so

Hi,
I would call C-Dory directly about production of or new 23' Venture. As for some of the other posts I think the Venture Series had a nice feature set which used to include window coverings, inside grab rails, shore power, 20 gallons of water with an on demand 12vdc pump, battery charger two GFI 120 volt outlets, hot water heater, butane stove, shelves above the sink stove area and a 12vdc socket for cigarette light adapters. The later we use a lot with an inverter along with a surge strip which lets us charge cell phones, power to our wireless router hich uses a cell card for the internet. The nice thing for us is the insulation on the interior which cuts down noise and fiberglass sweating which makes for uncomfortable drips in the v-berth etc. The addtional cost for me above the Cape Cruiser or a 22' Cruiser is well worth the additional dollars as most are items that cruisers would want. We overnight on the boat a lot when cruising a week at a time. We have towed our boat from Florida to Maine and we love it. One thing that might be a power option would be to use two of the new light weight 70 hp engines. We use a 150 hp Yamaha which gets about three mpg. We will add a ten horsepower kicker in the future. We now tow with a 09 Chevy 3/4 ton long bed extended cab pickup with a Duramax diesel which tows the boat effortlessly and gets between 14 to 16 mpg towing the boat. Cruisers have much different needs than day use boats. You can look at my photo album as I actual have a 2008 23' Venture, not a Cape Cruiser that I say is a Venture.

D.D. - to be fair, it should be noted that 23' Cape Cruiser is not a pull down menu option when one indicates what boat one owns. Hence, a Cape Cruiser owner must select the Venture option to indicate the boat that is closest to his when he registers.

Hi,
Rodger if a boat was built by Cape Cruiser, it's a Cape Cruiser. I made mention of the fact as the thread was about Venture's not Cape Cruisers. Being an actual owner my post deals with what standard features Ventures came with rather than the the discription gussied up. No offence to Jim of Jenny Katz but I wanted to clear up some of actual differences. Along with that I thought trying to sell a new boat for a dealer and the factory might be good. The actual differences to me are not fluff, just trying to state the facts. Other folks have put in different brands of boats that they own, some times other. Thanks for your post.
D.D.

Cape Cruiser called its 23 foot model the "Venture."
Cape Cruiser called its 26 foot model the "Marinaut."
Both those names are now used by other builders.

Things have gotten complicated enough, that in order to distinguish boats you may have to indicate manufacturer, year, and length to avoid confusion. Sometimes model name is not all that helpful.

(NB: Just to further confuse things - there is no "Cape Cruiser" option when you fill out your info for the C-Brats. Hence, you see that I appear to own a 2006 23 foot C-Dory Venture. There is no such boat. Mine is in fact a Cape Cruiser Venture.)

I guess I should have said no vinyl interior and no added drawers for storage . Otherwise Boats are very similar . The original cape cruiser was not as fancy as the new venture which by the way I like very much the added storage and drawers are winners but I still like the overhead shelf and the no vinyl especially down here in sw florida lots of mold so If I came off that I dissed someone I meant no offence .Like Bill said the venture is the only boat we as cape cruiser guys can check on c-brat site
The boats that came from cape cruiser usually came with lots of standard equipment and some options the one's I have seen are equiped like this
1 shore power with GfI plugs
2 windlass sprint 400 or 600
3 20gallon fresh water
4 electronics shelf over Pilot's seat
5 Lenco trim tabs
6 wallas single burner 800 stove which works great
7 tundra fridge
8front opening window
9 large steps into cockpit now the new c-22 cruiser have similar steps
10 bait well
11 privacy curtains
I agree with Will-c I to would like the twin 60-70 hp option if I was buying new.
So I guess the only difference is water heater and better storage and bigger price I guess I was giving the author of this thread other options if that's what he wants . I'll keep my Cape Cruiser Venture series thank you
Please check out my photo album Jennykatz page 3 shows brochure for 23 venture from Cape Cruiser back in 06-07

Jim,
No harm done, but The C-Brat profile asks what model C-Dory you own, Your boat was built by Cape Cruiser. You don't own a C-Dory. Since Cape Cruisers are no longer made the only thing really available new for the poster would be what ever Triton Marine was offering. I wanted to list the items so the poster could compare that to what ever that was currently available. Your discriptions of fluff and gussied up were not really to the point. If you get air conditioning or a heater the insulation/full liner or what I guess you refer to as fluff has real meaning to folks not wanting the condensation dripping on them. I don't think the Cape Cruisers had a 150hp rating. I have have nothing against Cape Cruisers, I just wanted to point out the are not C-Dory's. Close but no cigar. There are some differences. Were Good.
D.D.

Cape cruisers aren't C Dorys. The part of their history that's important to us Cape cruiser owners is that they were designed and built by the original C Dory designers and builders(Toland brothers) They are rated for 150 HP. The new Venture is the same excellant hull design.
Yesterday we were cruising out in the Gulf and it was spectacular!

Hi,
Apparently not all Cape Cruisers were rated for 150 hp. If you look at the data plate shown in Jennykatz's cc 23 album picture 50 it clearly shows Cape Cruiser and a rating 120hp. Just the facts, good to hear you folks were out enjoying your boats. Up here the stripers are just starting their fall migration, we are still fishing. I see a new post today about insulation for some reason I guess there must be something to it.

yes my boat which was hull #3 had a 120 hp rating but as they started building these Great boats by the Original c-dory builders (some of the c-dory craftsmen working days on the c-dory factory came to work the cape cruiser line that evening )I would not worry about putting a 150 hp on her but f115 is fine I get 32-33 mph and get about 4mpg .

When cape cruiser lost its legal fight with c-dory The cape cruiser was now a c-dory .The same mold that made my boat made your Venture . The only difference is the insulation vinyl and lots more nooks and crannies storage drawers and water heater .DD its a nicer boat with more amenities and worth the 10k difference over a c-22 . ON the used market it's almost the same price as the c-22 cruiser.Thats why I posted in the first place to give Jiml the option of getting either a new or used Venture23.So I guess the Cape cruiser is the B---------- child of the tolands but we are definatly cousins.

Jim,
I was aware of the history. I looked hard at the boat you now own when it was originally posted for 40k and later I think he dropped the price to 36k. He was selling it without a trailer. The guy lived on Merrit Island I believe. I was really looking for a 22' Cruiser with twin 50's. I almost bought exactly that when Charlie from Wefings called and said the factory had a boat that had floor board issues that they reworked. They came up with a deal for the boat with twin 50's Yamaha's for 50k on a trailer. A dealer in Canada got the boat before we got a lock on it. Then Charlie from Wefings (at the time) made us an offer on a 23' Venture that a dealer had lost his floor planning on a 23' Venture. It was priced better than a new 22' Cruiser. We made the deal sight unseen and added a 150 Yamaha and air conditioning windless etc. Our boat is perfect for our use. I'm not fond of the newer Ventures being discribed as vastly different because of the insulated interior which is all through the interior and bunk area. It looks great, insulates against cold and heat along with outside noises. Laying up against the covering in the berth is for me is a lot better than uncovered fiberglass. We don't have mold issues as we have our boat connected to shore power, battery charger on even when on the trailer with a small heater running through out the winter months. We don't wrap up our boating season until mid December or later if the weather holds. My apologies to the Cape Cruiser owners if my posts might have appeared snippy, not really my intention, a knee jerk response to the fluff and gussied up comments about C-Dory Venture's. Happy Holidays.
D.D.

We do have all the molds to build the 23' Venture model and we would be happy to get one started for anyone interested.

We have had some discussions about how decked out we want to make this model. Some feedback from some C-Brats suggested that we build a Venture style boat that was less money and more akin to the 22' Cruiser.

However, we are amenable to building the 23' Venture as decked out or spartan as requested. With our current production schedule we have the ability to have this latitude with our orders.

If anyone has any questions about the 23' Venture, don't hesitate to give us a call.

Jeff Lindhout

Folks,

Thanks for all the good information that is flowing around here. I'm actually dealing with Marc at Wefing's to give me a price on the 23 Venture.

I like the 23 because of the hull design. I'm here in St John's, Nl Canada... the most easterly point in NA with the North Atlantic close by, so I need something that can handle the rough conditions we sometimes see here. Also, I like the bigger cockpit for the fishing season.

In the meantime, I have 2 small kids and a boss...do you think that the 23 can comfortably sleep the 4 of us?
