I got caught in a small tornado here in my Marina Saturday 4/29/2017 and it sucked open my cabin door and slammed it into the stop ,bending the door frame and shattering the glass. Anybody know of maybe a wrecked 25 that I could get a door from,I've talked to the factory and they referred me to Diamond Sea Glaze in British Columbia and they can make a new door 6-8 weeks for $1750 + shipping but the 6-8 weeks will put a stop on my planned Cumberland River cruise this month. My only other damage was to the Bimini but that's a easy fix. River boating ...tornado Saturday ,non stop rain and now flood. We're on the Mississippi (umr224) ,the Marina ( Lake Center) had total damage to two of its docks and lots of boat damage,I was very lucky! I'm just above St.Louis,Mo in the Alton pool,just 6 miles above the Illinois River conflux. Thanks
 
I have never been around a tornado...but if you had a window open in the boat would it still have torn the door open ? was it vacuum that caused the damage or just the wind ?

I think I would make a plywood temporary door...I sure would not let me slow me down...

Great idea of the plywood door--some of the boats have an "opening window." You can also make a window of plexiglass.

Pretty unlikely to find a C Dory 25 door laying around...

My initial thought was a Sunbrella door-=or drop down cloth. We have left the door open with an air conditioner on the bottom. and the cloth above.

The door was closed as it was a cool rainy day and I had a 'MrBuddy' heater going...it sucked the door open and also some bedding and dishcloth etc. out of cabin. Frame will somewhat straighten and will make temp.repair. It'll just push my Cumberland trip back to mid June ,mite not be able to start below Wolf Creek dam as the spring release on lake Cumberland should be done and the River becomes very shallow unless the gens are running and that's a intermittent thing. But from Celina down its navigable year round . I have placed order for new door from Diamond Sea Glaze in Canada and it's a 6-8 week thing to make my dory 'whole ' again. So life moves on ,my damage is really slight ( though expensive) but it's a boat and stuff is difficult to replace. So the door frame ,after shattered glass, and door handle and lock removed ( and viewed by ins.adj. is viewed I can proceed with a attempt to press it straight and order a temporary 1/4" plexiglass and maybe make it doable while 6-8 week new door glass assembly is built by Diamond Sea Glaze in British Columbia. The Bimini could make it but if our local canvass shop can't replace it in time for me to leave,,it'll do!Now I'm back on the plan for the Cumberland cruise. Will have to do it after mid June and that mite make some of the upper reaches non navigable but I sure can do the navigable part from Celina,Ms. down. The folks at "Traces on the Cumberland " have been so helpful I'm sure gonna talk with them when I depart to see if the upper reaches are deep enough to do. Our Dory's......aren't they a hoot. I'll trailer it into my starting point ,leave the truck and trailer, motor down ( I'm old and slow (1200-2000) ,hang on the hook at night, use my micro wave and 2000 Honda , sip coffer in morning, soda in afternoon and a little rum on the hook. Can't wait,....really the plan is almost as much fun. When I hit the Ohio I'll turn north and motor thru 1 lock and up to Golconda Marina in Illinois and call home (St.Louis area)for a ride back to truck.I'm really hoping later this year to do a loop via the Erie Canal,'Oswego" canal ,Lake Ontario , Rideau,Ottwa River , St. Lawerence river,Richaleu ,Lake Champlain ,the Erie west,back to complete a loop.And if all goes well the C Dory meet on the upper Mississippi the weekend after Labor Day ! Ain't the dream a hoot! The reason I plan to trailer back home from the Ohio River is that I've done the trip up the Mississippi from the conflux and it's not a pleasant ride. Thanks all....Jim
