Announcing the adoption of Alyssa Jean. Alyssa Jean will be joining a big sister C-Dancer in the C-Dory Family of Peter and Caryn. The official adoption papers will be signed in a small intimate ceremony on Guemes Island at 2:00 PM today.
 
Peter and Caryn-What good news! That beautiful 16 footer couldn't find a nicer family anywhere. I can't wait to meet up with her on Lake Washington. Congratulations and Best Wishes.
 
Thanks all. Yes we're very excited that we've joined the exclusive group of 2 C-Dory owners. Once I saw David post that Alyssa Jean was for sale, at that incredible price, given David's history of maintaining his boats and improving upon them, it was a no brainer.

I've been thinking about keeping a fishing boat down here in Seattle while leaving C-Dancer up north to cruise the beautiful waters of the San Juans and Canada. With the addition of Alyssa Jean to the fold, it's the best of both worlds and we have David to thank for the opportunity. The boat is totally turn-key and ready for fishing. I just have a couple of projects in mind to turn it into a fishing machine. Plus I guess we'll have to rename it. :wink

We're very excited!!! Hope to see some of you out in the waters of Central Puget Sound!

Peter and Caryn, that would be another good reason for you to join in on the Snohomish River Delta Cruise, I'd be happy to Christen your new vessel for you on that day, if you so desire... :wink

It's much nicer having a boat in Seattle and a boat in the San Juans rather than having to trailer back and forth. It just isn't much fun trailering a boat on I5 on a friday afternoon. We have a 20 foot Whaler on Lake Washington and the C-Dory at Twin Bridges and it works really well, although we don't use either for fishing. Both boats got quite a bit of use last summer, although Lake Washington is best avoided on weekends. Do you plan on wet slipping the 16?
 
Dave, great idea. If we can make it, we would definitely like to have a naming ceremony.

20dauntless, you hit it right on the nose. I did a 350 mile trailering trip a few weeks back just to catch ONE nice coho salmon. Now, with two boats, we won't need to do that any longer. I'm surprised we didn't run into you at Twin Bridges this past summer. Oh well, maybe soon.

As for the 16, we'll be keeping it on the trailer. I'm hoping it can fit back in our driveway at the back of our house but I need to manuever it in there a bit plus need to enter and exit through a small alley. That's city living for you.

Do any owners of CD-16's out there know if I would need a trailer dolly to move the boat around on it's trailer or is it light enough to move without using a dolly?

Oh, BTW, I picked up the boat from David yesterday and had a smooth drive back. I could hardly feel the boat behind me towing with a Nissan Frontier. I think I can do this!! :thup

I really don't know the answer. I think it depends on the ground suface and your physical condition. I can pull mine forward a few feet to the hitch when the boat is in the driveway, but can't singlehand it in or out of it's pad at the side of the house over grass. I've been thinking about a battery powered dolly. Anyone have knowledge about those?
 
We often have dinner at home on Friday before heading up to the San Juans for the weekend. Normally if we leave the house around 7 we won't hit any traffic on I5 which is really nice. It's about an hour and a half to Twin Bridges, then an hour across to our dock, so it's normally pretty dark by the time we get to the cabin. But it sure beats sitting in traffic for hours. Normally Twin Bridges is pretty empty at 8:30 or 9 as most people have already left, so that probably is why we rarely see any C-Brats at Twin Bridges.
 
Peter, if you need to move it around a bunch on the trailer, get the trailer dolly. You might be able to muscle it around by hand, I don't know, but like Marty, I only can move our 16 a few feet without serious bodily injury!

P.S. - we are having a power outage here at Birch Bay, which used to mean no internet, since dsl modem and wireless router use good ol' electricity. BlackBerry Storm is tethered to Macbook, and I am not going to miss a beat (until batteries run down of course!)

Congrats, that's a great boat.
You might try a lawn tractor for moving it around. That is if you have lawns in the city :P

I have a swivel down jack with a wheel on it and can roll our heavy 16 around as long as the jack is leveled with the trailer. I don't move it much this way though.
 
Actually it does have a wood turned helm hub. The helm on the older 16's were different than the ones they are using now. (the diameter I turn now). I had to turn a larger diameter hub that fit the larger hub area and use a little glue to get it to stay in.
