I was looking at YouTube boating videos the other night, after a day of shovelling and plowing the foot of snow we received on my ranch the other day and I found this series of videos. If you are planning to cruise the BC coast you might find these interesting and informative. They are professionally done and had me pulling out my charts when I finished watching.

Enjoy.

Great find Peter. Makes me want to boat there.....oh wait a second, I do! :D
I can recognize most of the places on the inside of Vancouver Island & Desolation sound. There really are many incredible places to visit. If the sun and wind co-operate your visit here can be much like the videos.
Cheers
Ron

A wonderful show and of course a wonderful place to cruise. The video showed everything from southern Vancouver Island up to (ready for it?) Haida Gwaii in the north and of course Prince Rupert. Just absolutely brilliant. And it's all part of the San Juans, Gulph Islands, up the Inside Passage; one of the great cruising grounds in the world. And we've not been to Haida Gwaii.

We'll be up there this summer because it's one of the places that's fun to cruise, places to anchor, things to see. It took us a couple of times to find the best way to cruise it and relax because it's so different.

And Ron, we will give you the winter.

What happened to The Broughtons. :smileo

Either I missed something, or they did. :sad

Peter & Judy, beautiful video!! Going to watch it again at the end of the month if I have enough "net" time left.

On another topic, I finally got to taste Bison last Sunday. Loved it!! Wife simmered it in a cast iron pan on the wood stove for about 5 hrs. Stewing meat with leeks and mushrooms. It was from a Canadian plant called North Fork? Very tender! Went back to the store and got some more yesterday - they had a 2for1 sale on. $20. a pound at the regular price. Supposed to be good for people with heart problems like me.

Regards, Rob

It has been great weather all winter hasn't it Ron?

My friends have managed to get out a few times Prawning this winter off Denman Island and have been doing well, despite the weather. Wish I had time to trailer up to visit the mid-north island before the crowds show up but I'll likely join you in the summer.

Boris,
No question that the winters up here are the "windy grey drearies" and can't compare to the SoCal sunshine and temps. I guess thats why we were given the "Inside passage" to make up for it. :D Great to have you back again this summer.

Kalec,
What crowds? Stay away from Prideaux Haven and even in the summer there is only enough boats to just keep you company most anywhere. I've not been out much myself, other than a couple of times cruising this winter, but I've seen quite a few boats out fishing on the calmer days. Be great to see you head up this way. Congrats on the new boat. Be sure to try and make a CBGT this year, or maybe you are up to hosting a BC gathering this summer. Just sayin.......lol
cheers
Ron

Really looking forward to getting to a place where I can watch this. i love the area it covers so hope to soon.

Boris, have you looked at making the run or taking the ferry to Haida Gwaii?

Ron, Great to hear there is more talk of Desolation then actual boaters who go there. Thanks for the congrats and the suggestion of hosting. With a little one who wakes us up at 2:30am I’m barely capable of organizing putting my pants on before going fishing, much less hosting.

The winter springs and prawn photos I have seen from around comox are amazing right now. If I get skunked one more time on the water I will be in your neck of the woods soon!

Almost 5am time to get the bait out of the freezer, have a great weekend everyone!
