Alderbrook vs Roche Harbor in Late October

Going to take a 3-4 night trip to either Alderbrook Resort (Union / Hood Canal), or Roche Harbor around the 3rd week of October. Our plan is to sleep on the boat and will utilize shore power. Both places have plenty of availability and we will be crabbing and fishing from whichever location we end up at.

Now, the question that I would pose to the group is which one is likely to have the best weather (least difficult conditions), for a 24 tomcat and 22 cruiser. This will play a large role in deciding where we go as we like both locations.

Your responses would be greatly appreciated even if you are mostly just familiar with one place during the times we are considering.

thanks,

Depends on where you are departing from. Best to check weather closer to that time, then decide.

And, just for discussion sake, the place on the west side of San Juan Island is Roche Harbor (pronounced Rosh, with a long o).

Hope the weather is cooperative for your outing! :D

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks, made the corrections to the name (Roche).

We will be departing from Everett to either location.

Jim's right on the weather. Both could be great or....they could either one or both stink. It all depends on what you are willing to put up with in conditions, waves, wind or rain. There is a pretty good separation in geography there so there is a good chance that one or the other will be tolerable -- could even be beautiful. This weekend, not so much but we still have time for some gorgeous Indian summer.

Best
