Another "new" C Dory!!!

After an exhaustive nationwide odyssey, I've purchased my first C Dory!
Facilitated by Marc at Wefings (I'll take that free dinner and oysters, beer etc. anytime Marc) I purchased a beautiful 2008 23 Venture from a couple in Washington that were kind enough to deliver the boat to my door in North Texas.
I've completed about 1/4 of the Loop in my 1977 Albin 25 diesel trawler, but since I'm still working, I felt the "need for speed" that 7 knots just didn't satisfy.
Enter the 23 Venture, I believe its hull #2 after C Dory got the molds and started their Venture line. Powered with a Suzuki 150 and a 9.9 Suzuki kicker.
Wefings rigged the boat new with Raymarine, autopilot, and most importantly for a Texas boater....air conditioning!
Looking forward to meeting any Brats that I encounter on the Loop, and we're going to try to make some CBGTs.

Her name is "Easy Victor II", an obscure aviation reference carried over from my Albin.

Congratulations on your new C-Dory!

The "other" boat I was considering instead of the 22 I bought was an Albin 25. Coming from sailboats, it had a nice sailboat feel to me (step down below, etc.), and I had always liked them. What I ran into though, was that it was difficult to find one in nice shape, since they are older (from the 70's), there are fewer of them, and they are likely to have been kept in the water/outside. So I went with the 22. Side bonus is the optional planing speed and a lighter all-up tow weight, both of which I use to good advantage.

To get an album, send a PM request to either Tyboo or DaNag (forum bosses), and they will set you up. Can't wait to see photos of your new baby :beer

Nice. You will not be disappointed, and from what I have heard of about Marc and Wefings, they treated you well.

Welcome, and hope to cross wakes at some point. Glad to have you on board. C-Brats is a great place, enjoy.

You got it Bob. Code to prep flight attendants for the evac.
My Albin was trailer kept and had a new 39 hp Yanmar. I spent about $10,000 on refurb and updates.
Incredible economy, about 11 smpg. Two quarts an hour fuel burn.
Absolutely loved the boat, but the Venture should cruise about 20-25 mph when there not much scenery or I need to put some miles behind me. The fuel burn is a trade off for my available free time.
Planning on launching the Venture today, but all of our local lakes are flooding! Two years with no rain and now four weeks of daily rain.
Guess I'll sit in the driveway and figure out the Raymarine E80 and the radar.

Also, how do I contact Admin to start a photo album??

EV14.

You can still cruise as sailboat speed, but now you have options :D and you can decrease your fuel burn considerably dropping from 25 kn to 6 kn. And as you know, you can see so much more.

To get the photo album send a PM (button found below the posts in any thread), to Bill (DaNag) or Mike (Taboo). You use their screen names to find them, and then ask them to set up an album. Be sure and give them your boat name, and it will be set up under that.

I don't know an easy way to find them, I usually would look in a list of subjects in one of the forums. There has to be a better way.

Well, maybe he should be. So today's philosophical question is ...

Is Tyboo taboo and if not should, Tyboo be taboo?

Bill - I think we're going to need a poll.

Congratulations EV14,

You won't be disappointed with the performance and economy of the Suzuki engines (boat will fly). A plus is that your economy at slow and cruise speeds may surprise you. We have the same power combo on our 23 Venture and are very satisfied with both speed, economy, and how quiet the 150 is.

Enjoy your new boat!

Thanks all for the comments.
I was able to run the Suzuki 150 by backing down a flooded boat ramp at our local lake. Fired up instantly and incredibly quiet!
This is gonna be fun.
