I notice that the cruise calander has a hole in it for the month of August...How about an August gathering in Ilwaco? Could run out to the ocean and do some serious salmon fishing.

I think someone was trying to put together the Langley trip in August. But no reason why there can't be two in a month.

Why sure, I might be able to drop in on my way by.

Pick a weekend with a small tide change. And if the weather/water is haywire, there's always B10 bumper boats.

And if it is sometime in the first 2 weeks I may be able to get there...

Spousal unit has us booked for Arrrgust 6 through the 13th for some of that CA whine country experience. Looking at the tides, on the weekend of the 19-22 there are minus low tides in the morning 7:04, 7:46 & 8:27 respectively. A person could sleep in, eat breakfast and head out and return on the flood tide. We may have a bumpy ride going out but would most likely have a smooth ride back in as you approach high slack. These are some large tide changes, but we can get in & out on the flood

The following weekend, 26-28 offers small tide changes. A person can get up and cruise out on high slack. With less than a two foot difference between high and low tide, a person could possibly run back in on the ebb if the sea isn't to lumpy, otherwise you'll want to be waiting for the flood which isn't untill 1:00 Sat and 2:00 Sun and by then the wind may be making matters worse.

I prefer taking my beating on the way out and highballing it back on the slack about noonish. A bunch depends on the weather and I couldn't find a suitable chart on the internet that would give me a weather readout for August..damit

The more I thinks about it the more I think an official gathering would not be such a good thing...to many variables. if you're interested, keep an eye on the weather and ocean conditions and come on down when things are right.

Ken, what is the launch like over there?
any RV parks?

there's a good ramp and a sling, plenty of floating dock, many RV parks around and Fort Canby state park which also has a ramp. If you go in July and early August you don't have to battle the B10 crowd. Here's a good link to stuff in the area www.funbeach.com

The name has been changed to Cape Dissapointment for those looking for Canby.
Looks kind of nice but I would like to be with the gang... for once... one of these days...
