Recently made a bench seat for the motorwell of my 25. Made the prototype out of plywood with grand intentions of making a permanent one of starboard. The plywood is holding up well. Got the cushions custom made from foamorder.com $865. This seat has made a huge difference in motor noise while underway, and it keeps the kids relatively safe in the cockpit. Hands down the best modification we've made. See photo album for pics.

Nice! I've been thinking how to do one on our 22. We keep our cooler in the middle of the cockpit up against the splashwell. If I were to make a seat back there it would have to lift up out of the way with little effort to make it work right.
Maybe just 2 coolers across the back with snap on cushions and some kind of removable back rest mounted to the splashwell?
Great job. Actually you are better off with the plywood. The Starboard will tend to sag with weight--it is heavier than the plywood for the same amount of stability.
We have always just sat on coolers/chest freezers or storage boxes, and used chairs to fill in when needed.

It looks really nice. Getting cushions done sure is expensive.
