Best Anchorages/Restaurants lower Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley

Hello C-Brats:

We are going to trailer Sal Salis Vita to lower Kentucky Lake the second week in October.

One of our favorite activities aboard is to anchor out. Can the Brats suggest any great spot(s) to put down the hook in that part of Kentucky Lake, and/or lower Lake Barkley?

It would be nice if there was some accessible shoreline to dinghy our two retrievers ashore for some exercise, as well.

On a related gastronomical note, any great restaurants accessible by boat you'd care to recommend?

Thanks in advance for any info!

We toured Lake Barkley early last spring and enjoyed a couple very nice (and quiet) anchorages:
Just south of the Blue Creek Access Area at approx. mile 86 on the east side of the lake. The access exits the river at about mile 84.5, follow the buoys toward the boat ramp, then continue south out of sight of the few houses. I think we had 8 feet of water in this cove (USACE Cumberland River chart 12).
Fulton Creek area (mile 53) on the west side of Lake Barkley. There are lots of inlets in this area, and since it borders Land between the Lakes, there is less build-up on the west side.

Gerry: Thanks for the Active Captain suggestion. Yes, there are lots of rated places. Great site.

LesR: Thanks also for your suggestions. We're going to check them out.

Best wishes,

Bob Foss
