Big Water at the Columbia River Mouth Today

The data below is from the Columbia River mouth buoy at noon today. Sure the swell is huge and has huge wind waves on top of that, and yes the faces are steep. Look on the bright side, you'd have nearly 8 seconds to prepare for the next one! C.W.

Rosario was pretty wild on Monday as well. 10+ footers & 50mph winds, had to leave the 22 in the islands! (San Juans). Almost lost the wife, just about blew her off the dock. The family took the water taxi (45ft boat) across but could not make it to Skyline - we got dropped off at Washington Park. I'll have to take the taxi back this weekend to pick up the boat. And the gales of November....
 
Hi Brats

The Colombia Bar is good but just down the coast at Tillimook Head is the best left hand point that is perfection on the south winds and big swells.

Jumping off the rocks to enter the water their can be exciting but the place holds huge swells and produces great barrels. Just be respectful of the locals.

Wave heights at 28' with periods at 12.5 seconds :shock: ? And you were out in this in your CD's? And one of you almost lost a wife? I am still trying to figure out how you got her there in the first place. That is the real question!

Charlie (Capt's Cat) I don't think I have seen any like that on the mid-Chesapeake Bay lately :crook

I will have to say... we, as a group are a strange lot... or so does my non boating buddy of a next door neighbor say when I share the Brat's stories. Butch

Butch, I'm never gonna SEE waves like that unless they're visible from some place on dry land! 3-4 ft is about our limit, even in the TC because, on the bay, they are very close together, usually wind driven waves, not the "swell" type.

BTW, hate to burst your bubble but "Bartles" doesn't have two t's in it! :lol:
 
Charlie... ya had to burst my bubble didn't ya! :( I'll correct the spelling of Bartles shortly.

The quality of my spelling aptitude does get around. :thdown Last week I was invited to my youngest grandson's first grade class. It was visitation day. During that time I had the opportunity to assist him in composing a short paragraph on Thanksgiving. When I attempted to assist him in spelling... he politely refused my offer stating, "I know how you helped Jessica (third grade grand daugher) with her spelling and caused he to miss a word. :embarrased " He said he'd pass on my assistance.
