Does anyone have a generic boat cover for their 22' Cruiser that they like? If you have one you don't like, why? would be helpful too. I need a cover for my 22', not for traveling but just to keep it clean parked in my yard (lots of oak trees and dust). I wash it only to have it look a mess in about a week! Now have a blue tarp over it but it looks tacky-a cover that fit a little better would be nice. A custom would be great but out of the budget right now.

Too many variables. Radar? Radar Arch? etc. Try a brown tarp, inexpensive and less obtrusive.

I have an Angola canvas, not generic as they have the patters for the 22's price was just over 800 in Sunbrella and 2 motor covers, they do have cheaper material you could buy. Many of us here have used Angola canvas they are in Indiana, fast service. ordered, made and at the house in 1 week. The guy who answers the phone will also be the one making the canvas so special options will be well understood. You can click on my album and check them out.
Don, how long ago did you purchase your cover? Are you happy w/ it? Likes/dislikes? Do you store outdoors during winter?
I'm considering one for the 25. We currently pay for winter storage and I could probably get a cover, in Sunbrella, for what two seasons of storage cost us. :|

I have an Angola cover with the cheaper material. It was called "poly" when I got it four or five years ago. For the purpose of a whole boat winter cover I think it's much better than the sunbrella cover on previous boats. After winters outside on the boat, not even a hint of mildew or stain on the inside. The outside just shakes clean, even when laying it in the driveway to roll it up. It's still as good as new, in my opinion. I paid less than $400 for it including shipping. picture in Lizzie album.

I had the cover made about Oct. last year. This past winter was stored outside in the Sierra Nevadas and had lots of snow, not a drop got in the boat. I had them add a few inches because of the high top model. You have a choice of an all in one for the motor cover or seperate motor covers. Obviously yours will cost a bit more than mine due to being a 25'. Mine was $830 at my door. Several people have ordered their covers after seeing mine and are also pleased. One big difference to look at is the thread, if cheap thread is used the cover will need rethreading after about 5 years or so. I figure mine will need to be modified locally when I eventually install radar ect. The boat is now stored on Camano outdoors.

We have an RV spot to park her in our drivway so a cover makes sense and I'd obviously like to keep her protected during our dreary PNW winters. The storage is great (indoors although not heated, close and somewhat convenient) but the yearly cost is like rent; gone.

You may want to look into a "silver tarp" that Northern Tools carry.

You can find one that will cover the CD22 easily for a reasonable price. I have used the silver tarps onn my 18' SeaRay for years. They are reinforced with a webbing and grommet holes. I usually got 5 to 6 yrs before the UV started to weaken the fabric. I ran power to a marine battery charger and did not have a mildow problem.
A 12'x25' would cover the SeaRay 18' bowrider boat, motor ( in the up position) & trailer. It withstood many storms here in VB without a failure.

I run an extension cord to the boat and just leave it all year with the battery charger system and also plug in one of those dry heat units that WM has to take care of any attempts by mold to take over.
I would just call Angola canvas and get some options, just remember they are on eastern time.

I have an unused blue sunbrella cockpit cover for my, Sea Angel, CD25.
It attaches to the cabin roof and extends down to the motor well. It does
not seem practical to use it with my present camper back.
Are there any suggestions as to how best use the material? I already
have the inside curtains/covers. All my fabrics are still like new.

My Angola cover is made from a material called Aqulon. It is considerably lighter than Sunbrella and less prone to stretching under heavy snow according to the folks at Angola. It fits great and after the first winter with over a hundred inches of snow, no stretching. You can see photos in the album.
Aqulon is not breathable so I wouldn't want to use it full time in extremely hot and humid climates.

While searching for a simple storage cover specifically for So Cal (little rain, lots of UV) I ran into this interesting site. Shipping is the kicker. Around $75, but the overall cost for a C-22 could be as little as $300. (Click on the currency box to get US $$ prices)
The Irish are reluctant to give brand names for their cover material, and I suspect it's a foreign knockoff of a quality polyester marine canvas with thread to match, but if it lasts three years in our brutal UV environment it's worth investigating.
They're sending me a fabric sample and I'll keep the Brats up to date on the result. It's the first and only canvas shop I've found that specializes in pilot house boats. They've been in business on the web for close to a year and I've not found any complaints so far.

A year ago (8/2009) I had a custom storage cover made for the CC23. JP Canvas ( jpcanvas@xtalwind.net ) recommended "Harbor-Time" Acrylic Coated Polyester Marine Fabric ( http://www.rockywoods.com/Fabrics-Kits/ ... ine-Fabric ) over Sunbrella.

I called Ed @ Angola. Very knowledgable and answered all my questions etc. He told/quoted me the following for a cover for our 25:
Aqualon: 100% waterproof and 5 yr warranty. Good for use in heavy snow areas as it will not stretch like Sunbrella, BUT it is not breathable, so the risk of mold growth is high. $850 + $35 frt
Sunbrella: well you all know w/ a 5 yr manufacturer material warranty. $975 + $35 frt.
Because of our radar arch, he will make it in two pieces with a joint/zipper at the stern-end of the cabin roof. The cover will wrap around the arch posts.
We're gonna order one in charcoal Sunbrella. He said he can have it done in a week. I have to give him some measurements for the position of the radar arch prior to him beginning, however.
