Brat Map

Yes. All I see is a blank box when it opens.

{For Bill}
I'm using chrome (Version 31.0.1650.63) on a mac (OSX 10.6.8) but I'm guessing this is a google map issue.

Brat map:

Slow, VERY and then shows up empty. 2122 Brats listed, (according to the count at the bottom of the map), they jsut don't show up.

Windows 7,

To be honest...the Brat Map code is extremely crude. I'm sure the shortcuts taken when I wrote it are now catching up to us.

I'll take a look, but don't expect a fix soon...more likely than not, a complete rewrite will be needed.

Didn't you say something about some Mayan guy helping you write that code? Sounds like it went about a year longer than he thought was necessary.

Gawd...it's getting less frequent, but sometimes I still amaze myself.

Sincerely,

Your Modest C-Brat Nerd

P.S. - Stop whining about the Brat Map. No extra charge for the performance boost, either.

Way to go Bill! BTW, who is THE BRAT way up on the ice shelf? Never noticed him before, and a Honda 150 on a 22 Classic? Wow, must really want to chase those bears!! :disgust Not only that, from his two posts, he apparently uses snakes (vipers) for windshield wipers!

Thanks for the fix!

Charlie

Just a heads up on the Brat Map fix...according to the release notes for the new mapping code I used, there's a problem with IE8. The map still won't display on that browser.

Until a patch comes out to fix this, if you're using IE8 you have two choices if you wish to use the Brat Map:

- Upgrade IE8 to a newer version

- Truly upgrade IE by installing Chrome/Firefox/Opera

First, Da Nag, thanks for the fix.

Second, Charlie - to answer your question about the C-Dory on the arctic coast of Alaska, :

"Ketil Reitan is US Coast Guard licensed captain with many years of boating experience in Arctic conditions. Kaktovik is the best place for viewing the polar bears, this fascination King of the Arctic. Our comfortable C-Dory cabin cruiser is your best opportunity to see and photograph the polar bears in their environment in a safe and responsible way "

"Our boat has a flat bottom. It can go in shallow water. We stay in the lagoons, inside the barrier island where we are protected from waves. The boat has a cabin that can be heated on cold days, and it has a Porta Pott"

How's that for a GREAT use of a C-Dory -- go look at Polar Bears!! WOW! Now there's a great idea for a retirement trip, Pat Anderson!i

Thanks Bill! And a very Merry Christmas to you and EL. As you may have noticed, we've come full circle and are now back to a 22, to be delivered after the first of the year!

Charlie

And a very Merry Christmas to you good folks. We've missed visiting with you and have fond memories of times together. Would you care to join on a C-Dory viewing of Polar Bears on the arctic coast, or is it cold enough looking out your window at Snowball rolling in the snow? Cheers, friends.
