C-80 vs E-80

Depends? depends on what is important to you. if you want mulitiple screens or live weather report , music, , photos of ports , anchorges, etc.. then the E-80 is worth the money. I dont believe that the fishing funtcions or the ablility to navigate are different between the two units. I would like to have it for the ablitiy to install two units. that way I could have a better look at the finder while I am out back fishing, but for a grand I could buy a really nice stand alone unit for out back and a hand held control for my auto pilot.
 
Worth if for me!! The E series has many advantages, but depends on how you use the thing. I've had the C-80 and E-80 on several boats, and if we do this again :cry it will be the E-120.

I don't need the video function, nor the multistation feature.

So how much of a difference is there between the Gold and Platinum Navionics charts? And what is 3D Bathymetric Chartplotter?

For a guy that will predominately fish and cruise around Puget Sound, are these important or just nice to have features?
 
The platuim card has all the photos on it with more port detail info then the gold. I have the fish in chip card for the puget sound and that makes fishing a lot easies. Much more info with five times the depth contour lines.. You can really get the feel for the bottom contours and where shelfs and pionts are. I really like to use it. I does not have any navagation info, no bouys or markers. I keep both in the boat and switch them out as need be. All your way points save on the unit itself so you do not lose that info when you switch cards.
 
C-Dawg, The E series allows you to use the video output for a repeater screen for the price of a costco monitor. In our case, it allowed a second helm display and keyboard for the 1st mate.

Keep an eye out for display models. this E-80 was on display at WM and went for $ 1350 with full warranty!
 
One of the considerations might be the effort required to take advantage of any added features with the E-80.
Verla and I are still struggling to acquire a working skillset with the C-80 in our 07 CD22 (the Raymarine User's Manual being what it is.)
If you have prior experience with devices of this sort you may not find this to be an issue. If not, see colobear's thread called Secrets of Raymarine.
