C-Dorys (not exactly) featured in NW Cruising article

Just picked up the May 2010 issue of Northwest Yachting. I have been following the article "Cruising Guide to the Pacific Northwest 2010" and on page 33, top left hand corner, there is a photo of Lagoon Cove, an entrance to the Broughton Island cruising grounds. Without even squinting much, I found 2 C-Dorys. Too small to read the names, but there they are in real print.

A Green camper back, with inflatable on top and forward, and the other on is a light color stripe and maybe a tan or gold canvass. (Author Mark Bunzel just didn't compose this photo just quite right :wink for complete identification).

Anybody want to own up to being there? Good on ya'

ON edit, Link to the Nortwest Yachting web site: May issue is not up as of May 1, 2010.

Here's the answer!

It was 2006. I was traveling on Naknek (...now C-Pearl) with Bill and El Fiero (Halcyon), and George and Penny Berotti (Wanderer). We were northbound, and stopped at Lagoon cove for the night.

There was a flotilla of sixteen Grand Banks yachts northbound as well - and they took up nearly every available spot on the dock. Luckily, being so small, the three of us found space.

Halcyon is in front. You can identify Halcyon with its inflatable on top, and the canvas carries the same line back from the cabin. Naknek, is astern Halcyon and you can almost see the red gas cans I had in a storage rack on top of the cabin. Naknek was rafted to Wanderer, which you cannot see, and is tied to the dock.

And yes, the Happy Hour and buffet at Lagoon Cove was Great!

Mark Bunzel, who wrote the article, was traveling with the Grand Banks group to Alaska.

For anyone who has not seen George's photo's of the trip, I urge you to watch it on his website.

Best,
Casey
