CAD files for the 22 cruiser???

I have been teaching myself some CAD for use in tinkering, among other things. Specifically I am learning Fusion360. I'm going to be putting a new roof rack on Hammerhead once I get to the 'upgrades' part of the 'repairs and upgrades' thread on my boat. I have been designing it in Fusion, and now I want to put it on the boat to see what it looks like before I build it.

Does anybody have cad files of the hull and pilothouse of a c-dory 22 cruiser? Otherwise I'm going to have a go at modeling the boat. Totally unnecessary, but I think it will be neat in this instance to see what the rack will look like on the boat before I cut any pipe.
 
The only CAD files might be with the builder--and I suspect that there are none. The molds were built for most of the boats in the 1980's and 90's, and probably were not done with computer graphics. This was old time plan drawing and lofting-not CAD router in styrofoam molding that is used in building plugs and molds today.

There are yacht design programs which would make it easier--but I suspect you don't want to spend the coin for that. BoatArchitect.Com, BoatDesign vs 1. is free, and might speed your graphics. FREEship and PolyCAD are two other design free softwares I believe.
 
You could try using a program to convert a series of images to a 3D model. There are various services and programs available to do this. Some are free.

You need to know what kinds and numbers of photos each particular program requires.

Maybe you know someone with a Lidar scanner that can scan your boat.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max has lidar. I'm not sure how much app support they have for it yet, but I'm looking forward to what people come up with!
 
Gary thanks for that thought. I see that the I pad Pro 2020 also has LIDAR...Don't know I you could do CAD on the I pad and directly integrate...? It's "only" one boat unit 😉
 
Would be interesting to see the quality of the scans from the apple products. Seems like a good hand held scanner that would do a nice job for boat decks is about 10k. Too much for 'hobby' stuff. There are a lot of complex curves on the boat, I dont think I'm going to spend much more time trying to model it. Ateast not until I finish my more pressing projects.
